This is not in the US ... in most countries if you mouth off to the cops you get knocked the fuck out .. and in most cases it's best that way ... you have a ton of assholes in the US that have no respect and wish a cop would hit them so they can sue and cost the people Millions ...

Some of those inmates are pretty brutal people, hardened criminals and cold blooded murderers. They know the rules. If they can't even follow the rules in prison I wonder what the guards are suppose to do. I'm sure there are many instances of excessive violence toward them but I don't dismiss the possibility that legitimate force sometime leads to prison deaths.
