do you honestly trust godaddy with your domain(s)?

polish_aristocrat 04-17-2005 07:13 AM

Furious_Male 04-17-2005 07:15 AM

To many horror stories to take that chance. I am done with them.

Basic_man 04-17-2005 07:17 AM

I don't have the choice since all my domain name are there..

EddiePulp 04-17-2005 07:17 AM

not at all.. just finished moving my 60th domain to namecheap.com

Barefootsies 04-17-2005 07:19 AM

Nope.

I do business consulting on the side, and have had to deal with a bunch of different things from telco, to internet, and websites. GoDaddy is by far the worst I've ever had to deal with. No one over there has a clue about DNS, even at 2nd and 3rd level support. This has happened on numerous occasions. So when I come across companies now with something through GoDaddy, first order of business is to change registrar.

Plus, I've heard some stories from other webmasters, and their nightmares with them. I'd never use, nor recommend them for anything.

ya the domain in question was registered by my friend when he worked for uunet, and he put "fris freak" as the company, so when i transfered it over to godaddy. and put it in my friends account. then he did a change account but i didnt accept it within the 10 day period. i called them and asked if they could process it because i lost contact with my friend.

they told me i had to show either photo id with "fris freak" or company letter head. i told them they were crazy. and they told me to register a company by that name. so i went off and told them i had the domain before they even existed.

all in all i did get a hold of my friend and got it settled. but they are clueless.

Jakke PNG 04-17-2005 07:23 AM

I have almost all of my domains there. I have a few someplace else, the domains I send mails from are not with godaddy. :)

Jace 04-17-2005 07:30 AM

as long as you are using them for domains and that is all you should be fine, it is when you start using their other "services" that gets you in trouble

but for JUST domains, i have never heard many people complain unless they were doing some shady shit..

Evil Jawa 04-17-2005 07:32 AM

Yeah I trust them.
Why not ?

I don't do anything shady and they're huge.

no I do not trust GD at all

the only registrar I trust with high value domains is Moniker. I use Enom the most though simply for reselling.

Pete-KT 04-17-2005 07:58 AM

50 of my domains are there and have been for the last 4 years and never had aproblem I have other domains with other registers but Never had a problem with gd

eXperienZ 04-17-2005 08:00 AM

Been using go daddy for 4-5 years, never had a problem with them at all..

HorseShit 04-17-2005 08:17 AM

I don't have a problem with their service domain wise. I do have a problem when I uncheck the fucking do not mail me shit through the postal sevice and I still get stupid shit from them giving away my information to 3rd party companies.
