Say if you were moving to Arizona what's the best area to get a nice big house in like the 500k range?

Tucson. University babes. Close to drug... err Mexico. Good tourist destinations. Mountains and deserts.

Depends what you want. If you want to be near a city, then the towns around Phoenix are best. If you want to be nearby a city, but not too big of a city, the Tucson area. If you want just a peaceful area, then Sedona & that area is it.

What's the average price for a home in Tucson for like 4k square feet?

TheJimmy 04-17-2005 07:56 PM

I lived in Tucson for about 7 years the first time, and 1 year the next time...

Personally I like it better than the Phx area, it's close enough to hit the clubs if you choose or concerts, airport, etc...but Tucson has much better air quality and less crowding, it's also close to Mt Lemon which has a 9k peek where you can go skiiing in the winter most times, and it's only a 45min drive from the valley...and often about 10-20 degrees cooler than the valley at any time...

500k in Tucson and you'd be in a mansion, in the Phx/Scottsdale area, you'd still be in a nice house, but not quit as monster-pimpin as you could get in Tucson...

West side of Tucson is more of the hippie/liberal/college side, north side (district 16) is at the foothills of the Catalinas (mountains) and is probably the nicer side of town, the East side is more of the conservative, but 'ranchy' vibe....and the south side...just say NO...

If I 'had' to make a choice to live in the Phx area, I'd check into the Scottsdale area first, then Tempe and/or Chandler...

this cam usually has a good shot of the Catalinas from the center of town:

.

beep me on ICQ if you have any more questions about the Tucson area...

I'm sure you can get some more recent info on Tucson from a few of the topbucks crew...

Now you're talking about 500k houses? :winkwink:

I dont like arizona personally. One big desert. I go there every year for spring training and its nice for a week but you'd have to tie me up to live there. :2 cents:

Not the normal response i know :)

Right now, in the new construction areas in the outskirts probably around $350k, a year or 2 ago you could have gotten one for like $275k. Up in the foothills would probably be more like $600k & in a normal area of tucson, like $400k.

FYI Tucson is really fucking boring. Thats what people keep telling me. I've only been there a few times and it seemed really dead. Even the U of A campus was like a ghost town.
