Looks good, but not for the UK :(

swedguy 04-17-2005 05:12 PM

28 ounces, not bad at all. I thought it would be a lot more.

what is the difference? are laptops from the uk on different voltage? like if I bought a laptop for us in the uk, i would not be able to plug in into an external battery?

i thought it was just the voltage in the wall that needed to be converted for a us laptop, not the actual laptop

forgive my ignorance, i have never really needed to know...now my curiosity is peaked :)

Jace 04-17-2005 05:17 PM

what about their older model, the ncharge?

Im not sure to be honest.... Other stuff has problems I know

Looking at it again they wont ship to the UK, and I assumed that was because of the power compatability issues.... but they do deliver to NZ which is the same system as the UK

I think I will need to email them to find out for sure

wow, can I attach that to my dell?

i think you missed the point of the thread

http 04-17-2005 05:26 PM

There are several notebooks on the market now with 8-11 hrs. My IBM Thinkpad runs 6 hrs with its standard battery.

The point of having long battery life is to use it on the road, and to be able to use the notebook on your knees, or on a small cafe table, or on the plane. Notice how the girl in the ad sits at a friggin office desk? She could just plug the notebook into the plug socket. You don't want to carry that thing with you AND have to try placing it somewhere (probably near the notebook as well since the cable is prolly not that long)

It would easily fit in the Laptop case and it actually charges the laptops own battery as well..... Its used more like an external power sourse than a replaement battery

That would solve that problem....

leave it in the laptop case or under the laptop...not hard to figure out

the vcharge is pretty small too....don't quite understand your logic

Jace 04-17-2005 05:40 PM

and the cables for it are about 5 feet, and you can get a longer one if you want

It might make sense for old non-centrino/pentium-m notebooks but in that case I'd rather buy a new notebook for $1000 with 5-6 hrs battery life, it's much more convenient and ergonomic

http 04-17-2005 05:46 PM

O.k. I just saw it's $279 so it COULD indeed make sense if you are satisfied with your current notebook but it has a shitty battery life like 1-2 hrs

But the question is will it run a non-pentium-M notebook up to 10 hrs, or only Pentium-M notebooks. Meaning it might give you only another 1-2 hours if you have a regular Pentium notebook

reynold 04-17-2005 07:48 PM

Sounds like a cool laptop.

PlugRush Sascha 04-17-2005 07:49 PM

Nice, nice.

a standard laptop battery looses half its battery life in one year and is usually needing replacement within 2 years...this is just a nice alternative

so wait, you would rather buy a NEW notebook, then have a 1-2 pound attachment piece that fits and never leaves your notebook bag? LOL...wow, you have GREAT financial sense

The external battery has its own charger, which means it has a local mains plug...

Screaming 04-17-2005 09:50 PM

wow that is hot, mines like 2 hours

Illicit 04-17-2005 09:55 PM
