trend whores.

it's just another browser.. nothing more, nothing less.

Agreed. If people learn how to use their damn computer they can get along with using IE without trojans, viruses, etc..

Spunky 04-17-2005 10:19 PM

I thought it was common knowledge to update your virus protection and spyware removal programs on a daily basis. Also with a firewall I haven't seen any problems..still loads quick and doesn't suck up the resources Firefox does

Given there's no "Mozilla" agents in that list, most of the firefox browsers are most likely showing up under netscape.

I love the tab surfing!

jayeff 04-18-2005 04:20 AM

Get as aggravated as you like about peoples' choice of browsers, but the fact remains that a significant and rising number don't use Explorer. Which means that if you build pages or sites and only check them in Explorer, a lot of your visitors could be seeing something quite different from what you intended.

Vitasoy 04-18-2005 04:54 AM

That's cause newbies use ie.. firefox is for more experience users. This is in general of course.

I design my pages using as much standard HTML as possible and try to avoid browser specific coding. The only browser I sometimes completely write off when designing a page is WebTV/MSNTV. I do however have access to one and will occasionally design an alternate page for them.

Wiggles 04-18-2005 05:17 AM

firefox is so much smoother and less worrysome.

I love the tabbed browsing. You can have 4 or 5 browsers open in tabs within one window. You can then save the tabs as your home page, so every time you launch the browser all those pages load up in one window.

If I want to view a page in IE, all I need to do is right click and choose View This Page IN IE.

Thats how I do all my surfing now, and I think it gives me the best of both worlds. I highly recommend Firefox.

GatorB 04-18-2005 06:28 AM

Well right now I'm using FireFox because I'm having a problem with IE with not being able to have pages open in another window and link that open in another window. I don't get all the orgasm over tabbed browsing, I don't even use it. but if you like that shit you CAN get tabbed browsing for IE too. And FireFox is still slow as molasses in january in loading pages and I have the newest version of FireFox. IE loaded pages faster when I was on 56K dial up 5 years ago.

If you are on any decent connection, the load time speed shouldn't be noticable. If you want to see some actual load times of pages you can use http://www.numion.com/Stopwatch. I ran a bunch of tests and didn't see anything overwheliming.

As for the tabbed browsing, is it a third party plugin for IE or a Microsoft add on? Either way, can you please post the link, I would like to try it out!
