I was just watching repeat Saturday Night Live shows and...

I really miss the days when SNL was actually funny. I miss commercials breaks being started with G.E. Smith and the SNL band. The show I watched tonight was when it was casted by Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade, and Rob Schnieder. Hands down one of the best SNL casts since Steve Martin, John Bellushi, Dan Akroyd, and Gilda Radner, decades ago.

SNL sucks ass now. I don't even chuckle at the jokes and the music is lip synched. Man, everything is turning into cookie cutter entertainment.

Garbage!

xclusive 04-27-2005 10:29 PM

I totally agree I think the time to put the show to rest might have come until they can learn quality control

GatorB 04-27-2005 10:36 PM

Steve Martin was never a cast member of SNL.

Yes I'm am. He was never a member of the SNL cast. Trust me I was watching the show back in the 70's he was NEVER a "Not Ready for Prime Time Player". Tony Fricken Danza hosted the show 10 times doesn't make him a cast member.

You're absolutely correct! Steve Martin was never a cast member of SNL! :1orglaugh

Damn, that's crazy! I have always thought of him as a cast member. "We're two wild and caaarazeee guys..."

Thanks for the little tidbit of knowledge. I'm bound to win a bet or two at my local pub. :thumbsup

Hey I was 8, 9, 10 years old turing on the little 9 inch portable black and white TV very quietly in my room so I could watch SNL back in the 70's without waking my parents up.

Well I was going to post PROOF so here it is.

The host with the most? Wild and crazy Steve Martin has hosted the show 13 times, more than anyone else. John Goodman has hosted the show 12 times and Buck Henry 10 times.

Too funny. I probably had a very similar tv. I remember my first music video was on one of those black and white puppies. It was Madonna's, "Borderline" video. Early 80's.

We better stop, we're staring to date ourselves. :(

Apparantly I'm more dated than you. Hell I was 14 when that song came out. At that time I was staying up late jacking off to soft core porn on Showtime.

moneyman3203 04-27-2005 11:18 PM

Seriously, honestly, it isnt even funny anymore...

Radical Rick 04-27-2005 11:21 PM

yeah I don't even bother watching it anymore...it's lost all it's flavor

Really haven't watch too much the last few years. Times I have whatever promising skits they do have are ruined by the guys laughing at themsleves comstantly. The older casts had better composure.

Yeah I read the SNL book, Steve was never a cast member. He got too popular too quick, and never signed on.

I do miss the old SNL. I don't even watch the new one, it sucks so bad.

I remember seeing The Jerk at the movie theater.

"I was born a poor black child" fucking classic.

Same here about the TV but I think it was a damn Billy Ocean video. I hated Billy Ocean! :1orglaugh

Watching Oingo Boingo & Men At Work videos on Black and White TV's were always entertaining. Surreal.

I've been a devoted SNL watcher since the first season. My favorite recent years had Cheri O'Teri, Molly Shannon, Will Ferrell and Ana Ana Gasteyer.

Overall this year has been pretty lame but there's usually at least one segment that makes me glad I tuned in.
If Tina Fey is going to be doing the weekend update I like it better with Amy Poehler. Will Forte cracks me up when he does Zell Miller. I guess I'd pick Rachael Dratch as my favorite current cast member, Darryl Hammond a close 2nd.

smack 04-28-2005 01:09 AM

the period when will ferrell was on it was funny. that man could make anything hilarious.

Downtime 04-28-2005 01:10 AM

i totally agree, all the best episodes are behind us with spade, farley, and the rest of the crew. it's still decent but nowhere near where it used to be

Garbage!

That's the cast I grew up. SNL hasn't been the same since those guys left. Since then, very few people on the show have made me laugh regularly, and none of them are on the show anymore (Chris Kattan, Will Ferrel, Tracey Morgan, Tim Meadows, Jimmy Fallon). The only current cast members I like are Tina Fey and Horation Sanz.
