Chat on adult site ends in robbery

When Chris Barker responded to an entry on the Adult Friend Finder website, he could not have foreseen the unforgettable experience to come.

Mr Barker later told police he had been emailing a woman using the name "Sally 69". After a few days she suggested she visit him at his Quaker Hill home. Police say in a brief of evidence tendered in court this week that Katie Louise Broomhall arrived at his home after 3am on Monday, November 10, 2003.

Mr Barker, 31, told police he talked to the tall, slim woman with long, blonde hair for a while and offered her a drink. They talked about sex and soon moved to the bedroom. Broomhall took off her singlet and his top and started to give him a massage. She then took off his shorts and masturbated him for a few minutes.

"Previously we had discussed the fact that she was into bondage and that she would like to tie a guy up," Mr Barker said in his statement to police. He agreed to this "as long as it was not using too much force", and Broomhall allegedly tied his ankles and his wrists together with plastic ties she had brought, the statement says.

Then, she claimed to feel faint and allegedly left, saying she wanted some painkillers from her car, Mr Barker told police. Soon after she returned a male wearing a grey woollen ski mask allegedly appeared telling him to "stay down and keep quiet", before spraying an irritant in his face, police allege.

After the two left, Mr Barker freed himself but found his TV, video recorder, DVD player, pay-TV box, digital camera, computer, printer, mobile phone and watch were gone.

Broomhall pleaded guilty on Thursday to one charge of "aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence in company". She has pleaded not guilty to detaining a person in company with intent to obtain an advantage and was committed to stand trial on that charge in the District Court on a date to be fixed.

A mentor of mine always used to tell me "you know youve made it when you start getting all manner of weirdos on your site". According to him, its a sign that your site is now so popular and so big that it includes even the most marginal elements of society (criminals being some of the most marginal of all).

So in a strange sense, i take my hat off to AFF for getting there and managing to net some weirdos.
