4 Dead In Ohio

Least we forget what happens when American students seriously speak out against their government. The Kent State massacre was 35 years ago today.

http://www.uiowa.edu/~policult/asset.../KentState.jpg

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

RIP Allison Krause, William Schroeder, Jeffrey Miller, and Sandra Scheuer, ages 19-20.

Nixon, actually. I can see how you'd forget, for some reason they don't seem to be giving any memorial to these victims on network TV. Don't think for a second Bush wouldn't do the same thing if Americans had the backbone to stand up to the government today. The army and police don't protect the people, they protect the bankers and politicians from the people. This was the national guard gunning down unarmed college kids who opposed the war in Vietnam in cold blood, for those who don't know.

if that were true 49.9% of the us would be dead along with most of the world
amazing how that hasnt happened yet

JMM 05-04-2005 02:28 PM

It always kind of freaks me out a little when I see the list of dead.

JMM <---- Jeffrey Mark Miller

But then I tune into Seinfeld and see my name as a cameraman and I perk up a bit.

Imagine that, and I always thought my name was so unique.

If you call...vandalizing and torching buildings on your own campus (which was happening on virtually every major campus across the US)..."seriously speaking out". I don't call it speaking out...Richy boy...I call it what it was...criminal activity.

As for what certain members of the National Guard did that day...from all accounts it seems to have been unjustified.

You're a fool, sitting in your house and not liking the guy is not opposing him. I realize you weren't born for another 20 years after this happened, but people used to oppose the government when they committed crimes. Bitching on CNN is not opposing. Protesting with permits is not opposition. During the Vietnam war there was real opposition, and they were put down by the military. This was not the only incident during that time. The same was true during and after the civil war, protests and strikes were put down violently by the military. Don't worry, no one expects someone with absolutely no grasp of history to understand this, or even to understand why it's wrong to use a nation's army against it's own citizens.

Drivel equals pig shit...Richy boy...but those voices in your head lead you to think you said something of import...eh Richy boy?

spunkmaster 05-04-2005 02:35 PM

They were shot by the Ohio National Guard !Some of the people who shot them were also students at the school at the time.

What's not said above is some idiot student set off a pack of fireworks in the crowd which made the National Guard troops start shooting !

you're right. i guess you're only protesting when you're burning down buildings and throwing shit at national guardsman. fuck peacefully assembling, lets burn this fucker down! actions have consequences, and although they went too far by killing them, keeping the peace is more then smiling while rocks are flying at your head and buildings are falling around you. you're the person i see at protests throwing firebombs at police cars and then screaming bloody murder while 4 of them hold you down and arrest you. congrats on being an idiot

You are correct and at the least an attempt was made to torch the ROTC building. Richy...boy loves to spread misinformation about the US and its citizens.

What did you make up? Let's see, name one person in history who's ever thrown a fire bomb at a cop car and then complained about being arrested.

The ROTC building wasn't burned down at Kent State, although some people tried. I'm all for the police arresting those who damage property and hurt officers, what's wrong is when the government sends in troops to randomly shoot into a crowd of protesters. I'm sorry that you're too conditioned to separate the two, I'm not going to continue trying to explain it to you.

This thread is in honor of the victims, I don't want to get into an argument with some stooge. Please show some respect and stop making up excuses for this horrible crime, or at least do it elsewhere.

i didnt actually suggest you actually threw a firebomb as a police car. i was referring to your mentality in regards to actions and consequences. you're the one who started it with bring bush into it saying he does the same thing. not once did i make an excuse for their actions, only explained why their presence was needed. i hope all that died RIP but its quite sad when you use this as ammo to put down bush. its also sad that you started this thread to spread mis truths rather then honor the victims then have the balls to bitch at me about it. the actions of the nation guard was extreme and WRONG. stop trying to belittle my comments by making it seem as though i believe what they did was right and should be done again.

News flash...the Government did not send in troops to "randomly shoot into a crowd of protesters". A few members of the Guard...for whatever their reasons...shot into the crowd.

In 1970 Reagan was governor of California and was quoted as saying student unrest should be stopped "if it takes a bloodbath." :(

First of all, I didn't spread any "mis truths", whatever the fuck that means, I posted a picture and a song. This thread was supposed to be a tribute until the usual idiots started saying idiotic things. Your reference to my mindset was ludicrous and oversimplified, as is almost everything I've ever seen you post. I never so much as implied anyone who did anything violent or destructive shouldn't be punished, I think they should. Some of these kids who were shot weren't even involved in the protests. I'll give you a tip, when the only person who thinks you're making sense is Pathfinder, it's time to give it up.

Second, I didn't use this as "ammo to put down Bush" at all. I just said nothing has changed since then in the attitude of the government and a large percentage of the people, which is absolutely true. People should remember events like this, instead of forgetting about them like the government would like you to. If you think the current government wouldn't do the same thing, well, you're as ignorant as I thought.

You can keep spitting out nonsense, I don't really know what point you're trying to make but I'm glad you think it's your obligation to put down and twist everything I say. It makes me feel special to have my own group of morons follow me around to every thread I start, insulting me and twisting my words around. It's rather funny.

escorpio 05-04-2005 03:11 PM

Mr. Reagan's denunciations of student protesters were both frequent and particularly venomous. He called protesting students "brats," "freaks," and "cowardly fascists." And when it came to "restoring order" on unruly campuses he observed, "If it takes a bloodbath, let's get it over with. No more appeasement!"

Several days later four Kent State students were shot to death. In the aftermath of this tragedy Mr. Reagan declared his remark was only a "figure of speech." He added that anyone who was upset by it was "neurotic."

You do not possess the mental capacity to hide your intent/motive for the drivel that you post...Richy boy. You are easy to read...Richy boy. You have but one intent/motive and that is to bash...spread misinformation...half truths...and out and out lies about the US and its citizens...and that is the truth now isn't it Richy boy?

As for twisting your words...no need to...as you do a very fine job of hanging yourself out to "twist slowly in the wind". You do keep me amused though Richy boy...so carry on please.

You're right, Kent State never happened, I just made it up. Neil Young is from the town a live in now and 30 years ago I convinced him to write that song about something that happend in my imagination so I could start this thread 30 years later. My apologies.

You never answered the question, do you think anyone but me reads your posts? Do you think anyone takes you seriously? Just answer the question and stop ranting and raving about your usual "Rich is always lying" bullshit. I hope you realize that when I put you on ignore again, it will be back to talking to yourself.
