Sharper Image Ionic Air Purifier...anyone have one?

http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/ca...737SNX/hppos=1

I'm gonna have to do something and order like 2..one for the main part of the house and one for my room.

My allergies and asthma has been flaring up non-stop for like 3 weeks now it's this dusty shithole known as Las Vegas.

They give off ozone... don't get it. But instead get a Sharp Plasmacluster.

i'm done with them - after reading that I unplugged them all!

:thumbsup

I had 2 of the large ones and 2 of the small ones. They were supposed to be silent or whisper quiet, whatever, and they weren't. They made a lot of noise. I also didn't notice any difference in the air and the metal filter that you remove to clean the dust off didn't have very much dust or anything on it. I didn't think they were doing what they advertised, so I sent them back :disgust

Ive heard that the "Essa Air Purifier" is the best one for allergies.

AdPatron 05-11-2005 04:05 AM

It doesn't work. There is actually a recall on them.

Ionizers now account for about 25 percent of the roughly $410 million per year spent on air cleaners.

DAYUM!!! I need to sell Ionizers...

Loki 05-11-2005 04:10 AM

I got one in my office room in my cabin, between my pack - 2packs a day habit and the dust of the log cabin my room normaly got pretty stale, I ran one of those buggers for like 2 months and kept getting killer headaches, so I pitched it.

Need to find something better nowthat spring is here and I'll be heading back to the cabin next month.

better go read Consumer reports before buying. I read they relly ain't worth a shit, in some of cases they make allergies worse..

edit

RainGurl 05-11-2005 05:59 AM

cfU 05-11-2005 06:53 AM

I love ozone!

MandyBlake 05-11-2005 07:03 AM

we were just in Sharper Image yesterday. Tony wanted to get a small one for his office. Guess he shouldn't.

Furious_Male 05-11-2005 07:35 AM

Glad I checked this thread. I was going to buy a few this year for the house. I better crank up the research.

Morphius 05-11-2005 07:54 AM

I own 4 of them

canplayer 05-11-2005 08:07 AM

my friend is in the air purifier business, the Ionic Breeze has countless lawsuits against it, it's not a real purifier.

I sent an Alpine Ozinator to my daughter in Seoul, Korea and she loves it. She said the pollution there is so bad that she cleans the electrode blades weekly. She said it really helps with both the pollution and allergies.

Greg Jacobson 05-11-2005 08:22 AM

I just bought a Honeywell Hepa cleaner at Home Depot for $169. It works but is fucking noisy as hell.

Choker 05-11-2005 08:43 AM

I have like 8 of the sharper image ones. They do not do the job they claim to. Go to radio shack and check out their lifewise brand. Now these work. They use a filter but it is a permament filter.

Tom_PM 05-11-2005 08:48 AM

Help plug the ozone hole: Buy an ionic breeze.

Seriously though, dont *all* electronic devices give off some ozone? Someone check the specs.

SykkBoy 05-11-2005 08:51 AM

yikes
I was talking about getting one the other day, but glad I didn't....
I still have this fucking zombie flu and am willing to try anything to get rid of it.....
I feel like I called Mike Tyson a pussy mid-rape...

warlock5 05-11-2005 08:58 AM

If you have allergies then you want to get one with a HEPA air filter (make sure its not a "HEPA-type" air filter as these don't meet HEPA standards)

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-11-2005 09:26 AM

But hey enough of them in every house can help fix the ozone layer in the atmsphere.

Or somthing...

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-11-2005 09:32 AM

This shits just a sign that companies own the system now.

I always thought while growing up that selling harmful things to people from Drugs to everyday products was tested and people were generaly protected from companies doing this very thing to us.

dennisthemenace 05-11-2005 09:46 AM

We had 3 of them - one of them went totally dead after about a year. The other two are sitting in a closet doing nothing because they're more trouble than they're worth.

Family gatherings with a house full of smokers makes them a pain to clean and they start making these squeeling noises - plus of course the ozone thing.
