I'm going to see Hall & Oates tonight and I don't care who knows it

seriously, not embarassed at all..even though none of my friends would go with me..lol. This is the second time I am seeing them which makes it even more 'sad' to many of my friends. My dad went to high school with Oates and they are both grew up in my home town area so I got into them pretty early on. I know it doesn't match the rest of my musical taste but it is good to listen outside of the mold sometimes too.

Anyone else have bands they love that they 'shouldn't' ?

chessmaster 05-11-2005 04:20 AM

BROS, with the hits Drop the boy and When will I be famous.....

Shoehorn! 05-11-2005 04:29 AM

Hall & Oates kick ass.

HairToStay 05-11-2005 04:39 AM

Best selling duo in rock history. Absolutely love them. My guy has seen them more than 40 times and we're going to see them in the Fall when they tour the Northeast.

Bands I love but I shouldn't?

Nickelback (it's for the younger set)
Blondie (one of the first concerts I saw back in 1978)

Aza 05-11-2005 04:42 AM

After seeing your post I called to book tickets.
THE SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED!
Damn it :(

Tempest 05-11-2005 04:42 AM

I saw them in concert once.... about 20 years ago..... LOL

Sloane 05-11-2005 04:45 AM

I was listening to them in the car on the way home tonight..they rock! I would come with you!!

emthree 05-11-2005 04:53 AM

I read it as: "I'm going to hell and I dont care who knows!"
I need sleep.

I would love to see them in Philly...home show. But as it is I think I will be the only one in the audience that could yell 'North Penn High School' and know what I why they would react.

Sara Smile makes me ball my eyes out - my husband used to sing it to me.

One female friend says she might show up since I bought two tickets just incase. Though she likes Hanson (i know, I know) so her standards can't be all that high.

where do you live that you would be going tonight? I called the line and there wasn't any update. I am assuming this is BS but I the call doesn't cost anything so I did - heck it has happened to me before with giggs. I don't know many people that use the 'carling' bit infront of the name ;)

Aza 05-11-2005 06:13 AM

yeah whatever
i live in maidstone (if you know where that is)

i called ticketmaster to book the tickets
glad i did too, otherwise if i booked online i would be turning up just like yourself....i have been stung turning up to cancelled concerts before, so now i always check

anyhow let us know tomorrow how it is yeah? :1orglaugh

HarrytheNazi 05-11-2005 06:15 AM

...very sad post.

bopha 05-11-2005 06:21 AM

Love them. I see them everytime they come around. Daryl Hall is the best blue eyed soul singer ever.

BTW, they practically defined the early MTV years. They were on top year after year and much better than the crap they try to pass off on MTV now.

Sure the cheese factor was a little high on some of the early videos, but lest we not forget where MTV started.

"She's Gone" blows me away everytime I hear it. :thumbsup

Aza 05-11-2005 06:28 AM

sorry sarah....after this confusion i rang them again
it seems i was talking to a stupid bitch the first time

it was originally cancelled, and this show is the rescheduled one!!

stupid ass cow!

see ya there ;)

She's gone just played on my system..you cen feel the pain.

The last time they came here it was part of the Jazz Fest..which I thought was actually apt. I also agree that he is certainly the best blue eyed Philly soul boy. Also, their lyric writing is pretty up there if you listen to the world apart from the dated sound.

I *totally* agree but they didn't do it. I bet their playlist is different in the States/Canada because they had different hits than over here. Though Hall apparently lives over here now.

Anyway, I just walked back in the door and it it was a bloody fantastic (wow, I am British now) show. Apparently the new album is mostly Philly soul covers and they were all great too.

mmm...and me djing a show in an hou...totally buzzed.
