What's a good mini laptop/memory stick storage unit
 

Low spec if fine. Here's what I'm looking for:
(1) Cheap is best, since it'll probably get stolen or destroyed wandering around Central America shooting content
(2) Lots of storage (at least 40 GB)...or upgradeable storage
(3) Basic word processing...even Wordpad will work
(4) Modem preferred although not mandatory
(5) Ultra compact and durable...don't need a huge screen or anything
(6) Possibility to run on disposable batteries is a plus
(7) Card reader, either built in or via USB
(8) keyboard

Is there such a device? I thought I found the perfect unit with the ancient NEC MobilePro 780 http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/nec-mob...80-review.html but there's really no storage (perfect size though) and a CF harddrive of any size is expensive... Any suggestions?

Im looking for a similar thing. I want one of those flash memory pen drives or whatever but not the small ones of 1MB or 2MB. I want something much bigger like with a capacity of around 40GB. Im not too bothered about the physical size of the unit, provided it can just plug into my pc through USB like a normal flash memory.

Is such thing available?

I might as well buy a fucking IPOD, get 40MB and a music system for less. Im only gonna be storing music anyway.
