What would you do GFY?

I went to the grocery store yesterday and put my stuff on the thing and told the cashier " I have 2 waters and 2 thing's of beer." so she rings all my stuff up and the manager comes running over and pulls the beer off the thing under the buggy and said "You're tring to steal this." both I and the cashier say no she had run it up them he just walked away. I didn't get an "I'm sorry" or anything, he didn't even bag my food for me I had to.

I'm so mad about it, everyone in the store heard him and looked at me. On my receipt the first 4 thing's were water and beer.

:disgust

i would never go to that grocery store again and i would tell all the people i can the bad service they provide..

polish_aristocrat 05-12-2005 06:43 AM

you always seem to have some problems :uhoh

MickeyG 05-12-2005 06:43 AM

People leave heavy items under their cart all the time, for the manager to come running over saying your trying to steal this doesnt make much sense at all. He must see this 1000 times a day!

why didn't you open your big mouth and tell the guy how rude he was, or how he offended you? Instead you come to gfy to try and get sympathy?

That was the manager? I'd be getting free beer for a year after the entire store, owners, shareholders and anyone within a 100 mile radius finished hearing what I'd have to say to him. :) Kidding, it's not about the beer!

You should not have been embarrassed, paid your stuff and walked away. You should have made a scene, have him contact his superiors, wait until there was a nice lineup just to make sure everyone knew the type of idiot he is and have him appologize profusely in front of them.

In retrospect, I'd keep the receipt & write a letter to the company demanding a letter of apology posted on the entrance & exit doors of the store! That'll teach him a lesson to at least ask the cashier if she may have 'forgot' to tally the beer and water up.

Pete-KT 05-12-2005 06:57 AM

that sucks, i would of made a scene about it

You should have said to him something right on the spot as he walked away.. it's sort of too late now other than a silent protest..
Or, go next time at the same time of day and buy something on the bottom and holler at him "I'm not stealing this time either"..

Goodluck

MandyBlake 05-12-2005 07:52 AM

i would write a letter.
if it is a mom/pop shop, write to the owner. if it's a chain, write to the ceo.
explained what happneed and how mortified you were and how you never expected this type of behavior in a store that they ran...you might be able to get some free shit.

Tom_PM 05-12-2005 07:56 AM

When I managed retail, we had numerous training sessions on shoplifters, and the ONLY time you confront someone is when they are almost at the exit door (ie: CLEARLY not intending to pay for it).

If this guy was one of my employees he'd still be wearing my bootprint. Also, cashiers have "paid" stickers for items too big to be bagged. Did the cashier put one on your item? If not, she's at fault for your issue also..
