You know you're doing something right when people buy adwords for your company name.

Hmm, why wouldn't they have National Net as one of the keywords in their AdWords campaign. Makes sense to me. When you type sex into google should only sex.com come up? Type in MILF Hunter and see what comes up! :)

Sweet T is my father.

BradM 05-12-2005 10:30 PM

Competition feeds off competitions brands. Search for "Fastsize" ;)

NatNet apparently doesn't care enough to even try for a top 10 listing. I think it is a pretty smart idea. I wonder how much he is paying for that.

beemk 05-13-2005 12:42 AM

both national net and webair get under 100 searches a month on overture, im sure they wont lose any sleep over it.

:1orglaugh In France Google lost 2 cases on a lawsuit that was aimed at this very thing. Google sold keywords for Louis Vuitton and some travel agency to competitors and got sued hard by both of them.

that lawsuit regarded google allowing to sell LV fakes. this is slightly different. nobody is trying to be a natnet imposter.

What he said.

polish_aristocrat 05-13-2005 04:30 AM

loool

IMO what webair did with buying their domain was obviously wrong, but with AdWords personally I don't see anything wrong with it

That's like Ford buying up traffic of surfers looking for GM cars. Dilusion of trademark is I believe the term for it...

MickeyG 05-13-2005 06:47 AM

That's a pretty dumb .... 100 highly-targetted searches by people specifically looking for National Net who would likely have a higher chance of converting into customers, and that's just on Overture...

You're an idiot. The ad is not pretending to be National Net. Ever hear of things like the Pepsi challenge? There is nothing wrong with advertising like that so long as they don't pretend to be National Net.

Wrong again my friend. Google was selling advertisments to sites selling FAKE Louis Vuitton when the word Louis Vuitton was typed in.

Get your facts staight before you try to agrue.

Wrong again. They arent buying up blind traffic from Ford. Just like multiwebhosting isnt either. They are placing and ad which cleary states taht they are another company

why is that? cause I made a funny? ROFL

google has pretty nice safeguards in place so that adwords users aren't charged per click unless the click goes directly out from google.com or any of it's partner sites

so, even if 1000 people clicked that link, the company mentioned won't get charged for it, just free publicity

i thought that would have been common sense...guess not

Geico actually tried to sue Google for this very reason and lost. Unfortunately, it's Google's fault as much as the company advertising.

You can usually file a complaint and in some instances they will remove the ads. Here is the URL:

http://www.google.com/tm_complaint.html

Jace 05-13-2005 05:50 PM

if anyone could just post a google adwords link on their site and get people charged for others clicking, then they would be in for some pretty hefty problems...cause then I coukld paste this link for Mesothelioma http://www.google.com/pagead/iclk?ad...Q6TsgBAQ&num=2 on one of my pages that gets 1.5mil uniques a day, with a caption that just reads "click this"....and i would put the company out of busiiness
