If the liberals are outsted and the conservatives are...
Put in power... Canada is so fucked. Harper is going to drive the country into the ground.
That is all. |
The world is going to hell.

Just my theory and I could be wrong but I think it will be a cold day in hell before Harper gets into power. Here's why.
The conservatives, as they are today are the result of a merger with the old PC's and the Alliance. The major problem of the Alliance was to win seats in eastern Canada (Ontario, Quebec and the maritimes). Despite having created a "new" party, that problem remains. So to sum it up, the conservatives don't have enough seats in Ontario and the Bloc Quebecois is splitting their vote in Quebec. This consequently is likely to result in the liberals winning yet another election. Harper is playing with fire and what he's committing now is akin to political suicide. |

join the conservative fun. . . it's working out great for us here in the US. Think of the advantages: If you tell your spouse you would not want to be kept alive if you were brain dead, you will only have to get the approval of every judge in three states to let you die then when you finally win congress will step in and make you fight the battle all over again. If you don't like a country you can just invade and then when all the reasons for the invasion turn out to be wrong you can just change the subject. You call your opponent in the election a flip flopper, then come up with a plan to save social security and tavel all over the country trying to convince people it's a great idea. When you realize that the people don't like that idea and that maybe it is flawed you do a 180 and suggest something else, but you are not a flip flopper, you just changed your mind. When the liberals decide not to give you 100% of what you want and threaten to filibuster, you just tell them if they don't do as you want, you will change the rules so that they have no voice.
It's all fun and good in conservative land, there's nothing here to see so move along now. |

For example: Gay marriage-- Cons say NO but Libs, NDP and BQ say YES therefore Cons don't get what they want. Now, when it comes time to pass a budget, the Cons are going to have to appease the left to stay in power if they don't then the budget doesn't pass and we have another election. It all boils down to Harper wanting to be "PM for a day"....while wasting our tax $$$. Stupid Fucking Conservatives  |

The Canadian Gov. does not have control over it. |

I see a lot of people have bought into all the fear mongering over the small c conservatives. In the states they'd be called Democrats. Liberals and conservatives in Canada are pretty much middle of the road with a few kooks mixed in on either end of the political spectrum. Then we have our socialists; how anyone who values making choices for themselves can vote for them is a whole other topic.

The fact still remains that the majority of Canadians are CENTER-LEFT, of which the Liberals represent the CENTER and the BQ, NDP & GREEN represent the LEFT. So you basically you would have the minority right-wing (Bush-loving) Cons representing a small fraction of the Canadian people in power over the entire country. So regardless if you are right-wing or left-wing, I believe the ruling party should represent the majority of the people (DEMOCRACY) which is NOT the Cons. |
