bump for www.2bet.com

Luc 05-14-2005 03:18 PM

what's with the shitty prizes? no offense, i guess free is FREE, but company t-shirts is something you usually give away to promote your business, making it a prize is a bit lame.

Redrob 05-14-2005 03:27 PM

The Feds are watching this board:

"It is not illegal to operate an online or Internet gambling website in countries which permit it and when the people placing those bets are in those countries; it is illegal, however, to solicit bettors from the United States, under the federal Wire Wager Act."

This is the results of a recent case:

"After losing his case in a controversial manner when the judge instructed the jury how to vote, Cohen appealed. He lost his appeal two years ago, and found out in June that the Supreme Court would not review his case.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Griesa sentenced Cohen to 21 months in federal prison and a $5,000 fine." Cohen began serving his time on October 15.

Of the initial group charged in 1998, thirteen pleaded guilty and seven are still fugitives including Steve Schillinger and Justin Ware who are still in Antigua.

It appears to me you may have violated this law. Be careful.

I agree . They should give like 10 $ of poker money or something like that ... it'd be better

Luc 05-14-2005 03:34 PM

yeah, $5, $10, $15. i'm sure they can afford it.

btw, if it's illegal to solicit players in the US then how can PartyPoker.com
constantly run their ads on TV. they have some great ads btw, the typist.

Redrob 05-14-2005 03:39 PM

Just a heads up... I like to play poker when I'm in Vegas.

DateDoc 05-14-2005 04:20 PM

The prizes always change. I think they have offered $$ in your 2bet account before. I guess it just depends on the tournaments sponsor as to what the prize is. I'd be up for a game where we all pitch in 10 bucks and the top 3 split the $$. If we could get 25 players thats $250 to split up ($150 - 1st, $100 - 2nd, $50 - 3rd).

Then signup for a real money account on 2bet, and organize a sit and go on the board :)

Rawz 05-14-2005 04:51 PM

Party Poker , Poker Host ect.. do not advertise there .com sites any more because of US gaming regulations . They now advertise the .net which is all free play .

DateDoc 05-14-2005 05:12 PM

SmokeyTheBear 05-14-2005 05:29 PM

How has anyone solicited you to bet? I am very familiar with the Federal Wire Wager Act and seeing as how it involves the placing of bets, these tournaments do not fall into that category. These are FREE.

OK, so the wife is outta town and I go to the local poker place to get in some entertainment on my Saturday.

I sit down at a 4-8 game with $500 in chips - play for awhile and then get moved to the 6-12 game. I play in that game for about an hour and the table stakes are increased to 8-16 and I'm sitting on $700 in chips.

Another hour goes by and the table stakes go up to 12-24. I get pocket Q's and they get crushed. 2 hands later I have pocket A's and they too get crushed. I'm losing bigtime with great hands.

I have $7 left in chips before I have to rebuy. $7 on a 12-24 table!!!

I ran that $7 into $2300.00

Best damn poker comeback I've ever seen - let alone done!

DateDoc 05-15-2005 05:58 PM

Nice story, but $500 to buy in to $4/8?! I don't think i've ever seen anyone put down more than $300, and personally like to buy in with $120-160...

Bama 05-15-2005 06:16 PM

Fuze - I put my name up for the larger stakes tables when I arrive and get 400 in $2 chips and 100 in $1 chips for the 4/8 game - the wait is usually less than an half hour.
