I don't know what it's like over in the states, but here, workers who receive tips get a lower hourly salary. For example, here in Quebec, tipped employees get $0.75 less per hour.

hahahah i've seen those tip jars in places where they should never be.

its a sign that the california economy is in the shitter and people cant afford to live anymore, so they have resorted to legal panhandling. thats basically what it is.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

pornguy 05-17-2005 05:34 PM

Tipped emplpyees in the states get less than half of what hourly make. this tip jar thing is to try and make some extra cash.

Be careful, if you go someplace regurarly, and dont tip, one day, you are going to be eating spit.

In many places here, food service cashiers, busboys, bartenders and barmaids are also considered tipped employees.

Vanilla chai is awsome. I have mine like the english with a lil creamer.

I saw a tip jar for the DJ at a strip joint.

Makingcoin 05-17-2005 06:22 PM

Wrong. It's Quebec for Christ's sake, not Vietnam.

http://capsules.gouv.qc.ca/GOUVRep/P...E9A954C3A85A12

"Le salaire minimum en date du 1er mai dernier :

Taux général 7,60 $ l'heure

Salariés au pourboire 6,85 $ l'heure"

For the non french speaking folks, this says that employees receive $7.60/hour while tipped employees get $6.85/hour.

reynold 05-17-2005 07:02 PM

Tips are tips, they are not costumers' compulsory duty...

Unless my math is rotten, $6.85/hour is $0.75 less than $7.60/hour, right?

pornguy 05-17-2005 07:09 PM

Is $7.60/hour the minimum salary in Quebec?
Crap, we need to move to Canada, and get out of porn!

car wash, not a problem. gas jockey with full service but the last time i got full service was when i had the ibill corporate credit card...LOL

thumbsdepot 05-17-2005 08:24 PM

If you are only getting half minimum wage + tip pay then I may tip. If you are working at a job where they pay you certain wage then I'm not tipping you shit (unless the chick is hot).

xclusive 05-17-2005 09:14 PM

tips should be for certain jobs

PurrrsianPussyKat 05-17-2005 10:08 PM

I love to tip. I actually believe in overtipping people.
It ensures when I come back, that they remember me and give me better service than you cheap asses who leave them $1.50 for a $60 meal. ;)

STD 05-17-2005 10:11 PM

Hey I used to work at a Gas station... and hey if its full service u could give the guy a tip if goes out of his way to do everything he can to get what u need and have you back on the road fast... these guys make min wage and a tip if there going the extra mile I don't think is a bad thing! Now if its a self serve and all he does is take the money... we then you tell him to "Go Fuck Themselfs"!

sniperwolf 05-17-2005 10:55 PM

lol.. tip jars.... and math.... oh well...i dont want to think now..

Doctor Dre 05-17-2005 11:00 PM

I don't mind tipping people if they do a good job .

When I go to a restaurent, if I get an excellent waiter I can tip him as much as 1/3 .

If the service is average I'l leave like 10-15 % .

if the service is totally crap I'l give 5 %

gecko 05-17-2005 11:21 PM

If you don't want to tip, then don't tip sheesh.

xNetworx 05-17-2005 11:22 PM

I tip hot broads the most... that is so wrong :(

runaway 05-18-2005 01:26 AM

Vitasoy 05-18-2005 01:29 AM

I only tip waiters and delivery people, for the most part.
