2257 laws - Is it worth owning a host in the USA?

In my opinion these laws will be massivily damaging for US based hosting companies.

How many people will just move off to hosting companies based anywhere apart from the USA?

I think someone should start a site that lists sponsors and hosting companies by country... I'd like to diversify into less US based programs and hosting to be safe.

Simply moving your server to another country won't protect you :2 cents:

The orginal 2257 requirments already stated if you want to do business in the US you must abide by the US 2257 rules. So if you plan on using American billing or selling to Americans you have to follow the rules.. So being hosted out side the US won't do you any good..

how is selling to Americans requirement to comply with 2257 laws if you're not in the US?
In my country prostitution is legal, so if what you say is true then any american that comes over will have to be told they can't hire an escort because prostitution is illegal in the US?!

Sorry I don't buy that, 2257 has no reach beyond US borders

Hosts aren't responsible for the compliance of their clients.

Yeah... but for us affiliates outside the US who aren't billing anyone, knowing non-US hosts & sponsors could be of use ;)
