So? The unique part would be my traffic, networking, and interlinking system. And I dont want 1 TGP, I want 100's.

Not only in this business, lots of people try at different times to be creative and the fact is that vast majority fail. Just once in a very long while someone will come up with a real winner and score bigtime.

That's the route of choice for a few people, but it's nothing new for the majority to emulate ideas which are already proven. It's not only a more certain route to at least modest success, but it has also produced some big moneymakers when someone improves on the original or markets it better.

Of course there are also those who spot the bandwagon too late or simply aren't very good at what they do...

Yeah but I'd say 5-10% of TGPers actually make more than a few hundred bucks a month, if that.

Actually I responded when your topic seemed to have widened to more general principles, but if you are right then presumably they are covered by my last paragraph and spotted the bandwagon too late or simply aren't very good at what they do...

Although I do agree it is better than coming to a market late and expecting a poorly executed copy of an existing business model to work, innovation just isn't a particularly reliable way to fame and fortune. Nor is it as widespread as you might want to imagine: think about how few people there would be in this (or any other) business if pure innovation were the only way to go.

Even if your 5-10% estimate is accurate, bear in mind that the failure rate for start-up businesses in general is around 50% in the first year and 80% within 5 years. In addition to people who are going to take their work seriously, online porn gets everything from college students looking for a short-term way to earn some pocket money, to those lured by the promise of instant riches. It wouldn't be at all surprizing if our failure rate was much higher.

Rather, it is an indication of how much potential online porn still has and how much more it will mature, that the entry barrier is still so low and that so many largely unskilled and inexperienced newcomers do achieve at least modest success. And with no more than a handful of original ideas between them all :)
