2257 means you can just throw this sort of thing right out the window?

2257 pages that simply list all the 2257 info for the content providers are worthless now correct?

Like this page... http://www.teenseries.com/2257.html

Since all secondary producers must now maintain records just like primary producers.

fireorange 05-26-2005 06:20 PM

Yes, I think so.

fireorange 05-26-2005 06:21 PM

To be fair, if the government wanted to check the ID of a model on that domain, which address should they check out? I think that's why the gov made these new 2257 laws.

FAIR?

FAIR?

Fair is forcing people to make MAJOR paperwork changes in less than a months notice?

ChefJeff 05-26-2005 06:25 PM

Well that just seems like a waste since the thumbnails link to pages hosted by the primary producer anyway. It's clear these new 2257 regs are just a way to shut down a good chunk of porn sites. Fear is the tool and it's a good one.

Or they could just click to the page with the full size thumbs and see who the primary producer is.

These rules were proposed almost a year ago. Did you think they WOULDN'T pass? Especially after Bush got re-elected? Rules sucks. Totally un-necessary, but to say you only had a month's notice is BS too.

Well if you read the regs the SECONDARY producer meaning YOU is now just as responsible for keeping these records. So yes those adresses are useless the only one the DOJ wants to see is YOURS.

Yes, I am aware of this. The point I was trying to make is this...

It's not hard to find the primary producer of any given thumbnail image. Just click the thumb.

I would assume you are also hosting the large image too. WTF kind of site are you running?

ChefJeff 05-26-2005 06:37 PM

It's not even my site. Just opening some debate.

Most TGPs do not host the larger images. The thumbs link to a page usually hosted by the affiliate program.

I see the only change in most TGPs using thumbs is that they will simply change over to all text links.

from my understanding the PAGE is not worthless, if it is the right type point size and can be accessed correctly from your home page.

AND, if you hold copies of the original docs from the primary producer(s)

If you hold copies of all the docs from the primary producers, you don't need to list their addresses. It's redundant.

If YOU hold the copies and YOU have to, then YOU are the "custodian of records" and as such it's YOUR address that needs to be on that page. How else is the DOJ going to find you to do an inspection?

Heh... I think I know who that site belongs to :winkwink:

So it's clear, this page was not created in response to the new rules. It was created nearly a year ago for sponsor galleries, and is updated as needed.

2257 has been enforced for submitted galleries as well.

Just doing what a good NON-American can :pimp

They could just ask me... every gallery record has the sponsor / site attached.

Or they could just fly up to Canada and ask to see all my documents :winkwink: :1orglaugh
