a false sense of security is far worse then no security at all.

Apparently, MSIE7 won't be backported to win2k or prior... so anyone using a slightly older OS is shit outa luck for security updates unless they switch over to firefox or similar.

Riiiight. The security issues are getting worse by the day. The more people convert to ff the more hackers and spyware idiots will convert as well.

Mark my words: Within 1 or 2 years its safer to use IE again since everybody will be using ff.

FireFox has ALWAYS loaded pages slower for me. No matter what tweaks have been posted. Even the updated version. Tabbed browsing. I personally have no use for that. Makes my surfing more cumbersome.

One of my FAVORITE features is...

Click "Tools", "Options", "Web Features", and the "Advanced" button. In the "Allow scripts to:" section DESELECT "Move or resize existing windows". :thumbsup

Any webmaster that does pages to resize or change the browser window should be anally raped with a telephone pole. :disgust

Well for me FF is more cumbersome. gee get off my back. if IE is easier for me to sue WTF business is it of yours. Yes I like using FF and thinking I'm closing one page and I end up closing a whole fucking tab and thus EVERYTHING is gone. I prefer having page opne in sperate windows. Now I know I can do that in FF, but why ot use IE when it laods pages 5X faster? In IE I know what is what. I'm not going to acidently close EVEYTHING. If I close the window that has GFY on it only that window will close.

i can't wait to use IE back once Microsoft releases Longhorn (2005).
there would be a possibility that Microsoft Developers will joing the hacking world and penetrate their way to the FF system.

for the meantime, i enjoy using FF.

nico-t 05-30-2005 04:14 PM

nice tip texas dreams, i hate auto resizing windows... thanks!

xclusive 05-30-2005 04:16 PM

once you go tabbed you never go back

dcortez 05-30-2005 04:24 PM

I switched from IE and prefer it for most things.

If you design with CSS it is a must to check out on Firefox - there are some stylesheet 'edges' than can get crossed and don't show up in IE.

Yes sure, but on the other hand non-css sites look awfull with firefox!
Try using bordercolor and things like embedded tables you'll see!

Everybody love firefox because there's less spywares... That's only because IE=80% of the users, if firefox will grow up to 40% of the traffic (we can dream...) I'm sure spywares will be there too!

I vote against firefox.

Just turn on the feature that says "hey moron, you are about to close more then one tab, are you sure you want to do this?" saves me from closing all my windows when my finger slips from hitting command-w over to the q key all the time. the only time i can see IE loading pages faster is when you are first starting up the browser. after that firefox blows ie away. warm up tiem is longer, but the ppm are much higher...

Babagirls 05-30-2005 04:39 PM

i just switched to FF and you're right, it is nice :) still kinda tooling around with it though..

kernelpanic 05-30-2005 04:40 PM

IE is a worthless piece of shit.

Yes, there will be more, but still significantly less than IE. The OSS development/patching model lends itself to less bugs, and faster turnaround time for issuing of patches.

ddfGandalf 05-30-2005 04:45 PM

Firefox rulz, but watch out cos some pages get fucked up in IE which are good in Firefox and vica-versa...

Wilbo 05-30-2005 04:48 PM

Am I the only one who has a problem with Firefox and forms? I can't edit anything in my TTT trade scripts with Firefox.

If you are actually talking about BUGS, then yes. But I think you are saying BUGS when you actually mean EXPLOITS, 99% of the time, MS has a patch for an exploit out before it effects most users, alot of times before it effects any users... infact, most exploits are made popular through MS patches, rouge websites learn about these exploits by studying MS knowledge base and then attacking unpatched browsers.

While I can't stand IE and its unconforming ways (it renders pages like shit), you simply can not honestly attack one of the best anti-exploit teams in the world. MS has 50 times the resources to handle exploit detection and protection over mozilla, and MS uses them.

The only reason firefox
s OSS model can fix BUGS faster, well, they dont have to worry about bugs creating bugs, if you use unoffical patches and if it fucks something up, tough shit... mozilla takes forever and two days to release an offical bug fix though.

bret 05-30-2005 04:57 PM

p.s. oss models are usually exteremely buggy, and firefox is no exception. i just dont see where your argument is coming from... :(

I see 10 sites per day with firefox issues!
Check mine for example : http://www.frenchcum.com , it's HTML4.01 validated and css validated, but this stupid firefox keep making errors.
When you do complex tables with border it will for sure fuck up your site if you do not use css everywhere.

Sorry I was a big mozilla user (when nobody was using mozilla/firefox) but now since I need to double check all my pages with firefox I would pay millions for coming back to more than 90% IE users :)
