Now I'm pissed off
In an earlier thread, I was accused of writing a paragragh in praise of a .xxx tld, but I didn't. That quote isn't even mine! It's from British Telecom. Mine is listed above it, from a 10,000 word article I wrote in 2000 about child porn. Don't believe me?
Quotes Discussing an Adult-Content TLD Indeed, every adult webmaster we spoke with was vehemently opposed to the proliferation of Child Pornography on the Internet, considering it not only inherently heinous, but also a serious threat to the survival of the industry as a whole. For several years now, in fact, attorneys who represent adult Internet companies have been warning their clients to prepare for an imminent prosecutorial turn to the right.? [8] Tom Hymes, AVN Online ?There is also a strong case for having a content-specific gTLD (and corresponding SLDs under ccTLDs) such as .xxx or .sex. Sexually explicit services could then be legally required to operate with domain names in this gTLD (or SLD under a ccTLD) that would make it much simpler and easier to control access to such sites to protect children from the whitehouse.com problem, for example. This would not be to impose censorship or restrict free speech, but would restore an effective means for consumer choice which sites like whitehouse.com subvert by exploiting that present ?inherent propensity to confuse?). Similarly, non-commercial sites, including sites for abuse or complaint might usefully be allocated a specific SLD for that purpose.? [9] British Telecom [8] Above, is from me. Boy, what a fucking inflammatory statement that was. And was I wrong, back in fucking 2000? [9] Below, is from BT. Now who's going to call them out? This is what happens when people go crazy and strike out at someone, anyone, but the enemy, because they think that spies are everywhere, or that they've found a smoking gun that will confirm their petty suspicions. This is exactly what the feds are counting on, and boy did they get it right. Even I, usually pretty even-keeled, was thrown by the accusations and actually thought I'd written something that didn't even sound like me! But I am really pissed off that Jason Hendeles put my comments in the section titled, "Quotes Discussing an Adult-Content TLD," when they refer to nothing of the sort, not there or anywhere in a massive article I sweated over for months, that not one of you read. Nice work, Jason, and as for you, Mike South, well, I don't know what to say. You're a nasty piece of work, I'm glad I don't have your irrational level of contempt inside me, and get this through your thick fucking skull. NEITHER AVN NOR FSC SUPPORT .XXX! Just one other thing, and listen closely. I believe ICM Registry fraudulently used my quote to try to show industry support for their application, and I believe they did the same thing with others, too. If you're one of them, hit me up. I'm going to try to take their application and shred it into the next century. Think I'm kidding? Tom Hymes Communications Director Free Speech Coalition |
