Not necessarily, ICANN has announced that parties with a trademark interest or other substantial interest can secure domains before public registration starts. Lens and crew has a shot at it, but since the word adult can't be trademarked, it'll be interesting to see if ICANN allows him the "substantial interest" clause.

If not, some squatter will be rich.

I heard no, but I assume there will be law suits etc etc etc and of course Lens will get it. I also emailed new.net to ask them where they stand in all this and I havent heard back... except for the email that comes back saying something like due to spam we have changed the email address to... Not taking about Lens case which is different but any idiots that bought .xxx through new.net and then planning on sure are doubly idiots and will lose. .XXX was not a legal recognized domain before now.

Funny how on their site they don't sell any REAL domains.

They still can't say the people that bought .xxx before now own them.

This is going to be a mess. ICANN is global so how are they going to give (for example) adult.xxx to adult.com when maybe there is a adult.jp or adult.co.uk...

I'm betting it's going to be first come first serve, unless of course you are helping them promote .xxx, then I'm sure they will work something out for you. :winkwink:
