Why would anyone care about who gets www.sex.xxx or www.adult.xxx

They are just like .us .in or any other not .com/.us domain.

With out branding or anything they wont get any typins

Just like the dot.in rush. People were registering names left and right. And open up Overture and do a suggestion search for adult.in or sex.in or any other keyword.in

None have any results.

The .in would not compare fairly. Example being if I had porn.com and porn.uk which would have a better chance of ranking higher in a uk based search engine. Same would hold true to the .in at some point I would imagine.
As for the .xxx I do not plan on registering a damn one as I refuse to place any of my sites into a ghetto. If people want a safe surfing enviroment add some safe tlds where porn is not allowed. Such things like .kid .safe .god or .killingisokbutsexisnot seem fine to me.
