65K+ MGP - how to make money?

I'm having a MGP build and I have it loaded with FHGs from well known sponsors like Nastydollars, RealityCash, Perfectgonzo, etc... (8500 galleries in total and growing). The site has been on 65K visitors for like 2 weeks (it will be grown to 200K) but is not making any money. And with not any I mean $0.

How should I handle this site so that I can generate income from it. I don't want to end up with a 200K site and no income. I have read the different threads about TGPs/MGPs and it seems like I have to be a complete donut if I can not make at least $3k from a site like that (200K I mean), but at this moment I don't see that happening.

I hope I can get some really good advise here!

Trax 06-10-2005 03:44 AM

for the exact same reason I don't run tgps
i tried it once and made no money which told me something is wrong
seems like you site is a big waste of bw which could be because you use the hosted gals everybody else is using

Oracle Porn 06-10-2005 03:45 AM

there's a reason big tgps dont use fhgs

More Booze 06-10-2005 03:46 AM

I did have a 50k TGP, I did have a VERY hard time to make money from it. There is a reason that people build and sell sites instead of building more sites for themselves.

Are you saying this is just a FHG problem? So when I make galleries myself I have a much bigger shot at making money?

Adriaantje! Teringlijer!
Why don't you signup for Chameleon Submitter to get fresh galleries?
Is your site 2257 compliant?

But I would say there is also a reason that people buy those sites. One way or the other it should be possible to make money from it right?

beta-tester 06-10-2005 03:55 AM

also, don't forget that you're running a TRADE SITE, not a TGP. Which means you're skimming/shaving traffic from galleries and send it to your trade partners. Try to make your site at 50-60K where you'll send at least 90% traffic to galleries, and you'll see some nice money coming from it... Also, try to start accepting more galleries from submitters (read, partners) because surfers will love then and they'll click more on your site...more clicks > more traffic to your galleries > more clicks to sponsors > more money, simple as that.

Just try to make your site with pure 50K traffic and enjoy!!

Anna_O 06-10-2005 04:00 AM

Do you have any ads on your site or do you rely on only the FHGs?

Theo 06-10-2005 04:00 AM

icq me and i'll help you out

Yes, of course it is. Some people know how to make a lot of money from TGPs. Im not one of them. :(

webcrawler 06-10-2005 04:05 AM

Need more traffic then, you can't expect revenue with 65k hits.

Roald 06-10-2005 04:08 AM

This reminds me of the thread where pichunter was asking for advice some years ago ;))

I never really understood this. Of course I understand higher skim -> less traffic to the galleries -> less sales. But does a higher skim also make surfers less willing to buy? I mean when I send 50K hits from a 90% skim TGP to galleries are they more valuable then 50K hits from a 60% skim TGP?

justsexxx 06-10-2005 04:09 AM

Sell it to me...And you will make money on the sale:)

65k general traffic ins't that much. Now if it was some micro niche then you woudl have a winner ;))

Give it some time to grow to 200k and see what happens then.

Try smaller sponsors and lesser used fhgs. Don't use only the big PPS ones.

Is it a multi cat, like different pages for every niche. Or just a list with galleries, and all different niches?

Also, you said 65K, is the site still being fed? How is the prod% of your trades on your site?

cause that way you will get fresh galleries, better is to give away partner accounts though. Everybody has free hosted galleries, seeing the same over and over again isn't going to help making you some money ;)

Think as a surfer for god sake ;)))

I just love the way you pop your moron head into any TGP thread and start giving advice to people, as if you really knew anything. Let's see your site and how much money you're making off of it, shall we? You have no fucking clue what you're talking about, you're just repeating what you read on various boards. Bottom line, eventhough the advice you're repeating would be good to most people, you were incompetent at putting it into practice. So PLEASE stop doing this, before someone slams your ass half-way to Never-Never Land and you lose whatever credibility you might've achieved.

And as stated by several people, find some quality submitters and give them partner accounts. And look for less saturated FHGs. Perfect Gonzo have awesome stuff but surfers have already seen it a milion times.

Just one page with thumbs to galleries. All categories mixed, but only general niches, so no gay/granny/mature that kind of stuff.

The site is still being fed and managed. Like I said, it will be grown to 200K.

$5 submissions 06-10-2005 04:22 AM

It's a volume and traffic quality game. Unfortunately, with lower quality traffic, you need a lot MORE volume.

Depends on the quality of your traffic. Either you can use sponsors and try to find the right ones for your visitors, or you can sell the space and not worry about if it converts or not.

Thats your problem right there.

Work out what your surfers are clicking on and use targetted advertising.

I did not post that before, because then it might seem to be like I'm spamming or something, which is totally not my intention, neither do I have interest in getting the GFY surfers to my site ;)

Very well put. Especially when it's a gebneral niche TGP.

TheSwed 06-10-2005 04:27 AM

this most be a joke, or you have only hit boot traffic too feed it with. :pimp

Yeah I understand why a surfer likes this, but I'm not getting any money for surfers buying from other peoples galleries. That was my point.

Looks nice. I would decrease the blur filter and increase the brightnes when you crop your thumbs though. And add either ads or trades in between the pic tables. Something to give the site a more personal touch, it's good for bookmarkers.

the build your own, or think a bit bigger and try to make money from adds. You can always keep the top spots for your own galleries.
