Is DRM dead? Or do you use it.

Is DRM dead now. It seems that people can either remove it from the windows files or it just pisses off customers.

It seemed a good idea but now seems to me dead in the water.

What seems to work better is companies with there own video format. Where people have to pay for the software to view them.

bigdog 06-10-2005 05:51 PM

been wondering the same thing, some sites that had drm removed them.

demon100 06-10-2005 06:24 PM

adultbouncer uses it , thats why i am not promoting them anymore ,
its like fucking up your surfers ,
saying they can make their own pornmovie collection at home and then they seems to have all the work done for nothing as they cannot see any vid anymore .

demon100 06-10-2005 06:24 PM

their members will not return . But join avsses like deluxepass or something like that

I see many surfers post bad things about adult sites that use DRM.

bigdog 06-10-2005 06:41 PM

Isn't it all on how you use drm, if you use drm where the surfer can still access the movie even after they canceled their memberships sounds fair. The surfer still has his movies and your content will not be all over p2p networks

naitirps 06-10-2005 06:43 PM

all i do is drm... :P it works, if done properly.

bigdog 06-10-2005 06:49 PM

i have a friend that loves raven riley, he wound up finding a free hardcore video of her on a peer to peer site, odds are if he couldn't find it he would have bought a membership

DRM is great for traffic generation purposes.

I have done alright with DRM but just way too much hassel for little return.

The surfers that complain are the ones who trade passwords.

Agree, surfers should be allowed to watch the vids after their cancel their accounts. If it leaks on p2p or newsgroups, you'll know who leaked it and their account name as it's embedded, etc. Similar to what www.traxsource.com do for their MP3 files.

fireorange 06-10-2005 07:05 PM

The problem is not DRM, it's how it's implemented that is causing problems with some surfers.

bigdog 06-11-2005 08:22 AM

still one of the bad things for drm is that they don't work for mac users

Trax 06-11-2005 08:24 AM

surfers don'tlike it - don't renew - its dead
