I mean the US likes locking people up... in Canada its a LOT more common for people to get fines etc then jail time for stuff like this.

Check out this graph from that site of total people in jail per country.. Canada doesn't even make the top 25. Per capita to compare with the US numbers we'd be around where the Ukraine is on that list.. but we aren't. :)
