The Machinist

Watched it last night. Interesting flick.

could be a bit slow for some, but I liked it. Very Hitchcockish.

man he was so thin, it was hard to look at him in parts, but damn good acting!

EviLGuY 06-11-2005 08:41 AM

Yeah he totally committed to the role.. lost like 65 lbs. Decent movie I thought. Maybe a little predictable.

Gawdy 06-11-2005 08:43 AM

Ive wanted to see this for a while, Ill wait till it comes on SKY though

liquidmoe 06-11-2005 09:38 AM

Saw it in theaters, interesting movie. Not great overall, but has enough in it that its worth seeing.

He wanted to lose even more weight for the role but the insurance company for the production didnt allow it. He's a crazy sob.

can't believe how skinny he got, at what point was he thinking that maybe it wasn't worth it. Also, you'd have to think it was really bad for his health to be that skinny, it almost looked like he could have died, and all for a movie that really wasn't a blockbuster.

keyboard warrior 06-11-2005 11:18 AM

BeCool was pretty good, simular story as the shug night biography.

taibo 06-11-2005 11:20 AM

the who?

BlackCrayon 06-11-2005 11:43 AM

yeah, i've wanted to see this since i saw the preview at the movies, looks interesting and i really like christian bale as an actor. its crazy to think he lost all that weight for this movie then beefed up for batman, can't be good for him.

Well, I must say that I was been very dissapointed with this movie...
Too slow, too predictable...
I like movies, and after "Out of Africa" this was been the first one on which projection I almost fall in sleep... And "Out of Africa" was been (ouch, shit) almost 20 years ago.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like action movies so "speed" doesn't have anything with race/guns/chicks...
Simply there is way too many long scenes totally irrelevant for the plot (even in one particulary long and irrelevant scene JJL will show her tits, just to keep your attention)...
And, I can't say that movie has "sense" of Alfred Hitchcock. Simply it is much more drama than thriller.
On the other hand, great acting is big plus for movie.

**SPOILER**
I will never forgot the scene when he didn't wanted to go "under" SUV and he choose small car. LOL!!!
:2 cents:

keyboard warrior 06-11-2005 03:53 PM

sacX 06-11-2005 05:11 PM

yeah I found it hard to look at him in the beginning, it was like 'god damn eat some chicken'
