Mt McKinley climbers threatened by 'virus-laden poo'
 

You'd think the cold would kill the viruses.

Mountaineers who ascend North America's loftiest peak are often brought down to earth by "virus-laden poo" left behind by previous climbers, a medical report says.

Now imagine explaining to someone's family their loved on died climbing that mountain. They ask "Did he fall, die of exposure, avalanche?", you have to say "Um no, he died because of poo". That would be a shitty way to go.

Because of the harsh conditions, piles of feces have accumulated at the mountain's crowded high camp, located at 17,200 feet (5,200 meters), Robinson said.

"It's just an ice pack up there. You really can't dig down and bury anything," he said.

And since when was "poo" a CNN-friendly word?

That's nasty, but the cold would prolly not kill the virusses, it might in fact preserve them. Not something you would expect climbing a mountain though...death by poo.
