How old is your family tree?

Right now my family is going back to the 1400s. My aunt is over in Ireland doing some more homework this week. Our family is one of the oldest ancient families of Ireland. Most of them came over to the US during the 1800s.

Nah, we came from apes and thousands of families evolved at once.

We have traced ours back to the 14-1500's on my mums side. One of our ancestors was a famous artist and did some work at Hampton Court.

Never traced it - don't really care

mardigras 06-19-2005 05:27 AM

Our family trees are all basically the same duration... the better question would be how far back have you documented :upsidedow

I have no idea really. All I know is that my mothers grandmother came to finland late 1800's from Denmark. That's all I know.

Oh, except my trivia about my surname. My grandfather took changed his surname to this I'm sporting today as his 'artist name'. He was some opera singer or whatever. hah. :)

We've traced our back to the 1760's in Virginia. Im sure if anyone really wanted to they could go much farther back. Maybe not tho. Its not a very common last name.

My mother started tracking the family tree after she quit working. Now she is somewhere in 17th century and she is working on it for 6 years already - takes a lot of time and traveling.
good hobby when you're retired...

We have a rich doctor in the family who is a distant relative. Hes been retired for many years and has been researching it since the 70's I think.

suesheboy 06-19-2005 08:02 AM

we go back to the 700's of my fathers, fathers, fathers side. On my fathers Mothers side we go back to the Mayflower - I am the 12th generation decended from "Thomas Rodgers".

I am the last male on both my mothers side and my fathers side and I have adopted my step kids but dont wan't any of my own. Too bad all that history down the drain.

Now this is a nice question :) I started tracing my ancestors 8 years ago, and I have my family tree, which is pretty large, goes back to 1600, I was adding my husbands' side yesterday - irish surname - now this is a must: if anyone has any of these surnames and is interested in cross referencing data, pls contact me :) icq 124 68 229
