Montreal-ers. We called Videotron and BELL
 

We called Videotron and BELL to compare prices. Symaptico biz is about $90/month with about $350 to install. Videotron biz was about the same monthly price, to install they wanted $1050. ONE THOUSAND and FIFTY DOLLARS..LOL they are insane. To top it off they want a 3 year contract. Now I know why everyone uses BELL biz.

I know but Videotron services is way faster than Bell. Videotron asked us 5000$ to install it into our building since they were not there before. We took Bell but there biz service is slower than my Videotron at home... If you can affort Videotron, do it :)

We install everything ourselves in our office it was easy because the building was in construction so it just costed us the wires and then hooked up videotron and its way faster than sympatico wich is what i have at home.

I agree, VT is way faster than Sympatico at home. At my home office I have both VT and SYM...VT is much much faster, especially for uplaoding.

We spoke to the BELL rep and he said you can not compare the home Sympatico connection to the BELL biz connection. He said that with the "Bell biz" you have a static IP and Dedicated server, making it much faster. I guess we'll get to see that first hand.

looks like it. I go to some business clients that have Bell and it is much slower than my home sympatico adsl.

Bell biz slower that Sympatico? If that is the case we might have to concider VT after all, lol.

Would be great if I could test the speeds before choosing.

That client is located in Ville St-Laurent ( as most porn distributors). Maybe he is far from the nearest telco switch ... But it is slow ...

At home, I download a vidclip and get about 350-400 kb/secs .. same clip from his office at 85 kb/secs ... I wanted him to see how fast the server was .... lol ...

I haven't tried Videotron business ... so no comment.

Fuck! 85 kb/secs, maybe he is at the limit or maybe it shared by too many PC's?

You could always opt to get higher speed connections over Bell I think. At least with Rogers (our cable company in ontario), we have 5 different types of speeds and we took the highest at the office. I imagine bell offers the same.

Bell does offer 2 PKG's a 4meg and a 6.5meg line should be fast enough

6.5 is not available in our area, remeber?

We've had a fiber line from Videotron into our offices for about four years. They're quite pricey and not particularly helpful when it comes to things like custom bgp routing. We're ditching them next month in favor of a dedicated fiber line to Peer1's Montreal colo.

Yeah, we got the 8meg cable line. Wow, that bad boy is fast.

I have both and happier with vt
 

I have both here at the office, vt is lightning speed, bell is not. I really like allstream in montreal, now they offer the fastest service, I plan on getting them in here over the next week or so.

I've use to have an account with http://www.vif.com and they where Cheaper and had better customer service than Bell
