T3 report
 

Ok, the T3 report is an interesting idea - but i'm wondering about the legal implications of it. digging into someone's business as a general rule isn't nice.

yes - they did my site already but for someone with traffic sources they don't want others to know about - could they use the ability to do a T3 report as extorsion?

thoughts on this

I'm very curious about this. I think it mostly has to do with how data is collected, if its public sources or confidential. For example, Alexa is a public resource or Google. They don't state their data source so its a little hard to tell. I sure as hell don't want my backlinks being public.

You are giving them too much credit. This "report" takes most people a few minutes to put together the major parts of it.

if someone wants to use t3report as "extortion" over someone's traffic and hold T3report accountable, it would be like holding Smith & Wesson accountable for the robbery of a 7-11 with a .45

actually i believe there are lawsuits current on issues very similar to this against gun companies

but it would be more like - buy this smith and wesson to protect your store or i'll sell it to that coked out junkie there who will probally rob you with it.

T3Report has many uses, extortion is not one of them

if it's sold to people other than the url owner it COULD be.

do you have a policy where you only sell the report to the url owner or are you encouraging and profiting from people who may use it for extorsion?


or when someone orders a report on a site that isn't the site owner do you automatically provide the site owner with the report as well? otherwise I forsee MAJOR problems.....

1) for those that ordered reports on domains that aren't their own (ie. competitors) the way they are using it is to find who are the good affiliates to attract to their program. they aren't "stealing" affilaites..affiliates promote many different programs.. and t3report is a tool that helps them locate some good afiiliates to target. no one has ever came up with the idea of using traffic analysis as extortion until now.... quite an odd thinking. now if someone ordered a report on a traffic broker, and then tried to use the info to show they have chinese traffic.. well, that would surely make some interesting drama.

2) no.. because when someone orders a report, that info is held confidential. i have had some suggested that they would like to pay to know who did order a report on them, and i said that is confidential info.

Actually, no. The thing is that the T3Report does not show keywords. There is another report that does this, but that is for ASACP, processors and credit card companies.

There really is no info available that would be extortion worthy that you could not pull off Google or Alexa.

T3Report just goes a little deeper, and verifies the links, unlike Google or Alexa.

I will say that we have recently come across a new use for the T3Report as a result of 2257.

Sponsors can now find out everyone that is linking to them, and discover easily if they are using non-compliant content, against their new TOS.

Actually, that is a new free service for anyone purchasing a report on their own paysites. They can easily review all found affiliate pages for the use of non-compliant content.

you can't block a web browser via a robots.txt file

we use specialized spiders based on web browsers to do the indexing, so it looks and behaves just like any surfer...
