Fuck Mercedes Benz!
18 months ago I bought a new ML350.It has 28k on it now.Last week the brake light came on.I called the dealer and they said to bring it in.After they finished replacing all the brake pads they gave me a bill for $488.00.They said Mercedes does NOT stand behind their brake systems.
The service manager mentioned I was lucky the rotors weren't shot or it would've been another grand. |
typical - they have been going downhill while BMW has been gaining ground
|
And this is at a dealership where I have purchased 4 BMW's 2 Porsche's and the Benz..
It is the last MB i will ever own. I can understand that quality problems will happen.I can't understand that the manufacturer dooes't stand behind those problems. |
they want you to buy their extended warrantee they offer after you agree to buy the car.

28K on one set of brakes ain't bad at all |
they took a dump after they merged or what ever type of shit plan it was with Chrysler / Dodge
they are just trying to bank on the name but not following up with their top level of service :2 cents: |
i only deal with beemer motorsportz.

No dealer in Europe will pay for your brake pads on any car bmw/mercedes doesn't matter as well as they will not pay for for the tires.

I am going to have to start really liking the new Bangle designs in the 5 series. The new M5 is looking better every minute. |

The m5 series is really really beautiful but at the moment, it's too much $ for me. |

I would have took it some place else and paid $50 to have it done

It's not about the money. It's about the fact that a highend automobile manufacturer doesn't stand behind the quality of the product. If the brakes would've failed at 14,000 miles it wouldn't matter to MB.I had to spend nearly three hours of my time waiting to get this serviced.I should send them an invoice for my time. If you buy a vehicle used with lots of miles, you expect to spend some time and money keeping it roadworthy. When you spend the dollars on a new MB you expect to drive it. |
heard about that latest Blazing Ford engine news?
|
Think about using firestone for breaks instead.
|
Your brake system didn't fail. Brake pads are a friction component and to function properly HAVE to wear-out, like tires.
|
what you crying about... bmw won't replace your brakes for free either, it's called wear and tear component... bmw maintence program is only good for oil changes and inspection1, that's it...
|
Hmm I've never heard of a car dealer fixing brakes after 28k miles for free... thats fucking insane.. wear and tear man.
|
Yeh, what everyone else said. Things like that are not covered.
I can understand you being upset, but did they not tell you it would cost you beforehand? |

Stick with it. The vehicle is better than you may believe. I had a blowout at 115 MPH and I didn't even know it until the noise from the thrasing of the tire started getting very loud. |
hmmmm... interesting... i have no idea about benz , but thanks for the info

BMW over Benz......i'll have to remember that one.

Nobody in the world will cover break pads, that's considered wear and tear..... |

minte i don't think you have anything to bitch about this sounds pretty much common practice to me |
What do you expect ? the M is built in Alabama. If you were a real pimp you'd have the G wagon :P

Poor richman problem. Buying a MB and complaining abouth the maintanence. Cry baby. I petty you.

They replaced the pads for free. Its your dealer fucking you no matter what *they* may tell you. |

$488 isnt bad for brakes on a MB. I blow thru $500 on brakes for my Durango each year that spends most of its time running between Philly and Ashburn Va at high speeds :)
At least you didnt need a rotor shave and resurface. |
So your brake pads wore out? That's a maintenance item, why would they replace them for free?

BMW Full Maintenance. A whole different kind of fulfillment. Maintenance is one of many hidden costs to consider when you?re looking at a car?s sticker price. For most cars, that is. Fortunately, BMW offers one of the most comprehensive maintenance programs in its class. Not that service is needed often, only every 15,000 miles or so. Just about anything your BMW might need replaced or serviced?brake pads, wiper blades, oil change, checkup?is fully covered for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.* Which will save you money and simplify your operating instructions considerably: Fill with gas. Point to horizon. Go. Maintenance costs for 4 years/50,000 miles, whichever comes first:* ? Brake Pads: $0 ? Brake Rotors: $0 ? Engine Belts: $0 ? Oil Changes: $0 ? Wiper Blades: $0 ? Inspections: $0 I have been driving BMW's for 10 years.I've owned 5 of them and currently have two..I've never spent a penny on maintenance. |

in europe , espacially here in .sk , offers MB 6 years or 150k KM warranty and free service
|
I dont see how this is out of line - you almost always pay more for dealership service, and 28k on a set of brake pads is pretty good

Like i've already said.Any company whether it's Mercedes or KIA should stand behind the quality of their product. |
I wouldn't like this either... especially in his situation. He bought 6 cars before from that dealership and he's used to get such services for free (I guess not only for his BMW's but also for his Porsche's). Then he buys a Mercedes and suddenly he has to pay for it.
And to the people that say this is completely normal... this really depends on your dealership and it doesn't matter whether you're in the US/Canada or in Europe. Some dealers will just do it for free (like in 12clicks' case). With other dealers you can talk about such stuff before you get the car. |
