What btk has like 10 counts right? Now the spammer has how many seperate counts?

This country has gone mad.

Most murderers are caught and convicted. A very small percentage of computer criminals are ever caught and it scares the bejesus out of the authorities... hence, computer criminals get ridiculous sentences in a futile attempt to make an example out of them and scare the rest of the evil-doers.

Does he get to serve all the years at the same time though? Usually they allow that over here. So if he got done for 600 seperate offences and got 1 year for each they'd allow him to serve them all at the same time and he'd be out within a year. Plus it was more to do with scamming than spamming, still ridiculous though.

its just plain retarded. spammers are facing bigger sentences than murderers, child molesters and just about every other vermin on earth. why? its either because the law doesn't know how to deal with it so they figure if they scare a few people it will stop (which will never work). or because the big corps who want to be the only ones profiting off spam (MS, AOL, ect) have the law in the backpocket getting rid of the competition. the people making these laws and sentences are totally out of touch with the online world.

Like its so hard to leave the USA to begin with, get a fucking ticket to Mexico, then one to Asia, then travel by undocumented means (taxi cab, train etc) to a new country (cross borders) and bam.... good luck finding your ass

Legally there is a distinction between hurting other people physical, economy and so on. Some people has faced longer jail time for tax violations, than murderers. Its hard to understand sometimes, but think of it this way:
Spam cost netto billions of dollars each year. How many lifes could be saved for those money?
Its of course not directly worse than murder, but it has effects for sure...

I think both sentences are ridiculous! Neither convict will serve even 20% of their sentences before they die!

It's kinda like the Austin Powers Movie when Dr Evil is back in the 1960s and demands 100 Billion dollars ransom... yeah... let's sentence them to a kajillion years each - that will teach them a lesson!

after hearing some very inane laws being passed I am now numb from some reactions. sick.
