I just bought a Treo 600 today..any good?
I finally bought a Treo 600 today. Got it from Ebay for about $250.
Are they any good? I keep hearing mixed signals from people. some say they suck because of the Palm OS. Others say that the hardware is great! I also saw recently that they are coming out with a new Windows OS for the Treos but I dont know if the 600's will be able to use it. I'm sure it will but not possitive. Anyone have one with some feedback? |
haha you might be a little late on the feedback part.
|
first buy then ask for feedback?
|
Well, in order for me to get a Blackberry I would have to switch carriers and I dont want the hassle.
I bought it cheap and will have it in a couple days. Guess I'm just looking for info on other peoples experiences. |
250? heh ... you know the treo 650 has been out for quite some time right you should have spent a few more hundred and gotten it, along with insurance ( did you get insurance on it?).
when the 700 (i think thats the model #) hits the market supposedly around christmas, your 600 will be old as dirt. and i can probably guarantee you won't be able to upgrade to the windows os, and i dont see why palm would do this anyhow considering they have their own os. make sure you dont sit on your treo though. i had my 650 in my back pocket at internext sat down in a cab, and some of the buttons got stuck. well i couldnt get them "unstuck" and it was a pain in the ass getting the key lock off. i had to get a new phone. |
I would look at a Treo650 or a PocketPC(Jam, or with a keyboard the PPC 6600 from sprint or verizon)
|
I really don't plan to use it like a Bible.
I just want a phone and something I can use to check emails and instant message. If it does that well, it's money well spent for me. Maybe a game or two. hehe |
pocket pc phones 0wn palm phones. if you aren't a power user, the 600 will do the trick though.
the treo 670 will have windows mobile software, which is years ahead of palm os. since the treo is pretty cool looking with a nice form factor, i might get one and sell my 6600 |
why would you buy the 600 when the 650 has been out for a while and is way better?
|
They look soooo slick! I can't wait to get mine!

600 is oldschool.... 650 is kickass....
|
I know that you said that you can't use a Blackberry, but for phone, email, and IM, it really is the best handheld that I've used, and I've used them all.
I don't mind the Treo, but it's heavy and large enough to make it a little uncomfortable and I personally found the keys a little hard to touch-type on. The Palm OS and software isn't bad, but I like the simple, clean interface on the Blackberry. Bottom line for me was that the Blackberry was a solid, rugged unit with an inset screen that stands up to 24x7 use. |

i hate it. I like to put my phone in my pocket not on my side.
|
600 for $250? somebody saw you coming.
|
Treo 600 is cool man but 650 is much cooler.
|
It's a great phone. I swear by my Treo. Honestly, the 650 isn't much better than the 600 so don't worry about that. Just be glad you didn't spend the extra loot not since the next version (700) is definitely something to spend money on.
Get the insurance. Get the insurance. Get the insurace. |
Mine is kind of hard to hear, even on speakerphone its not very loud

I have an ipaq rx115 or something, windows mobile, 3000mhz processor, bluetooth, wifi, blablah, before that i had a good old palm V and believe me the palm os gets things done, the windows mobile crashes, the interface sucks, is by far less responsive, 'graffitti'-like input is a joke, etc. so i'm going back to palmOS and a treo 650 sacrificing some functionality but having a SOLID os and gui versus bells and whistles and no substance, great choice you'll love it :thumbsup
and DON'T upgrade to the windows mobile treo 670, it will suck major penis. i don't think i could use my current windows mobile pda as a phone ever, let a lone a contact manager or scheduler. |
