I do it so that I can have my messangers on one screen and whatever I am working on on the other. Also comes in handy to work on one and play poker on the other.

iwiiiiiiiiii 08-20-2005 05:28 PM

I have 3 monitors at the office, too usefull.

It's just weird when I'm back at home on my laptop

sfera 08-20-2005 05:30 PM

sfera 08-20-2005 05:31 PM

post a pic of your desk area!

Marcus Aurelius 08-20-2005 05:31 PM

Its a great way to make changes to a site on one side, and see them reflected live on the other, great for multitasking.

MandyBlake 08-20-2005 06:53 PM

its easier to work and fuck off at the same time. one screen for work and one for gfy! :)

PMGames 08-20-2005 06:55 PM

I can't live without my dual montitors. Once you do it, you will never be able to feel comfortable again going back to one.

I do a ton of photoshop, so it is nice to use the left for my actual workspace, and have all of my tools on my right monitor. Also nice to place other programs there in the background so you can multitask and drag and drop with no problems.

Hey....I use to use it for winning ebay auctions too...got my left one with my high bid ready to be confirmed and the other one that I keep refreshing to watch the clock run down to the last few seconds. ;)

One of my monitors died about a month ago, and for a few days I was a lost pup trying to figure out how the hell I ever worked off of one monitor, ever. lol.

Gotta go with the dual...it will change your entire experience.

sfera 08-20-2005 06:55 PM

so how do you specify what comes up on what screen. i would like to do this

toddler 08-20-2005 06:59 PM

i just drag whatever to whereever.

sfera 08-20-2005 07:02 PM

sweet ill have to get another monitor when i get more room!

BastarD 08-20-2005 07:21 PM

How about dual monitors and linux (gnome2) ?

Anyone tried that?

Robx 08-20-2005 07:48 PM

I don't mind surfing and stuff with one monitor, but when I really need to do some work, 2 monitors is the way to get stuff done.

In my office, I have 4 monitors (2 and 2) as well as a KVM switch. Sure makes multi-tasking easy.

MissEve 08-20-2005 07:53 PM

Lots of online poker players use dual monitors to have 8 games open at a time.

woj 08-20-2005 09:15 PM

arial 08-20-2005 09:24 PM

I prefer a KVM switch, but that's just me.

mrkris 08-20-2005 09:27 PM

I have dual 19inch lcd's right now, use one monitor for developing, and one monitor for messaging. I will be soon be obtaining a 3rd identical 19inch and running triple head.

How are you going to pull off running 3 monitors on one CPU?

I have two right now... and I couldn't imagine life without the setup.

But 3???????????????????????????

That'd be incredible....

Could you point me to a graphics card that would allow for 3 monitors?

FrankWhite 08-20-2005 10:12 PM

i dont know what i would do with one monitor, i've had dual for the past atlist 4 years

Yeah, that sounds awesome.

LexiLexxx 08-20-2005 10:49 PM

You haven't seen anything...

Mike69 has 4 huge flat screens, people freak when they see it!
plus, 1 laptop and then I have my computer, he is a programmer.

He uses every screen! I could play some many poker sites at once, LOL!

I love my desk ;)

mrkris 08-21-2005 12:20 AM

Right now I have a higher-end GForce card and bought a DVI->VGA convertor, so I have two vga's basically, to add a 3rd, I will just add a nicer PCI card, as I don't want to spend $600+ on another video card (PCI Express w/ SLI). I don't need a highend for the 3rd monitor, will probably be running unix on it anyway, i'm tired of this XP bullshit

mrkris 08-21-2005 12:21 AM

Yeah I bought my dad a new motherboard and the nv gforce 7800(?) gx or whatever. pricey card, but nice ... latest from nvidia, SLI ready :)

Vitasoy 08-21-2005 04:12 AM

I'm running duo setup right. Makes life much easier

u-Bob 08-21-2005 06:22 AM

1 box, 2 monitors
1 box, 1 monitor
1 laptop

SOADa 08-21-2005 06:32 AM

I run the dual operation among other neat-o things that make life just so much easier.

KVM Switch (controlling 3 systems)

2 Servers

Laptop

SideKick II

1 Dedicated Server (remote)

And a big dick to fuck women with. Mmmm. Living the dream.
