If you're pissed about gas prices...

It's easy to place the blame.

See that person driving an SUV with no passengers?

That's the #1 reason gas is so expensive right now.

Honez 08-26-2005 11:51 AM

What if that SUV is the only vehicle in your household? And you need it for business purposes?

That's fine because small business owners are a very small % and are not the cause of the problem.

Peaches 08-26-2005 11:53 AM

Yeah, those sports cars getting 12 mpg aren't to blame at all ;)

Cyndalie 08-26-2005 11:53 AM

Don't look at me :) I drove from palm beach to islamorada last weekend and back on less than a tank of gas. 300 miles. Gotta love Honda Civics !

Umm I see maybe 1 sports car for every 40 SUV's I see if that even.

Hell aside from safety crash prevention from being hit by another SUV I really still can not see a reason for a city dweller to own one.

You've got to have half a million dollars to be getting 12 mpg on the highway when it comes to porsches

Even the Turbo gets 23 mpg

Yes, I own an SUV. I live in the mountains on a 4WD only road and it's used more like an enclosed truck. You'd be amazed how much stuff I can fit into it and then open up the seats and put 7 people in there :) I get 17 mpg on the paved roads here and 22 mpg on the interstate (full load closer to 18-19 on the interstate).

The reason you see so fewer sports cars than SUVs is because sports cars are so damn impractical :)

I don't think I'll ever go back to a car, even if I move.

Yeah, my mom needs a truck as well, otherwise she'll never be able to get anywhere in the winter.

My Dad gets 12mpg in his corvette - and it didn't cost half a mil for sure :)

davethetruth 08-26-2005 12:04 PM

BTW I don't care how high gas goes, I don't pay for it, the business does.

I do feel bad for everyone else that's really being crunched because of this, but hey, at least there will be less people driving in LA!!!!

Ahh yes, vettes are gas hogs for sure. I didn't think about older muscle cars either, but still their are not nearly as many as SUV's.

Not all. My 01 Z06 is supercharged (with all the aftermarket add ons) producing 680HP and even with spirited romps I average over 27 MPG. Hire a good tuner and they do well.

On the flip side my F250 V10 gets around 10-12 MPG. But the prices don't bother me.

Veterans Day 08-26-2005 12:08 PM

I get about 6 mpg :Oh crap

really? I had no idea so many SUV's had been sold that it was having that much of an effect on the economy.

Peaches 08-26-2005 12:13 PM

BTW, the SUV with no passengers actually gets better mileage than one loaded with passengers ;)

sumphatpimp 08-26-2005 12:14 PM

if you weren't smart enough to buy oil and gas futures months ago thats your problem.
you have no clue what the return on investment is.
thats for the money dopey.

Evil1 08-26-2005 12:21 PM
