Your opinion. Target new windows or not?
I'm debating on what I should do with my posts. Both ways have pros and cons.
Targeting new windows: Pros: 1. No waiting for the page to reload after pushing back. It is cached but still takes a couple of seconds to load. Which is annoying. 2. Your site is always open in a window. 3. If a visitor just came from a site that targets new windows, they may be in the habbit of it and close your site on accident. This won't happen if you target also. Cons: 1. If the surfer has other windows open, the gallery may load into that window instead of a brand new one. Which sucks! (Is there a way to stop this?) Which do you think is best and why? Can you think of other pros and cons? I'm sure a lot of you have debated this yourselves. |
The are good uses for that like exit consoles, tgps, and freesites, but I wouldn't use one on a tgp gallery page itself
and "target="_blank" shouldn't pop into another currently open window, it should pop a whole new window all together. That's my :2 cents: baby :thumbsup |
I agree it depends:
On a TGP sure (The gallery listing sfor example) On a gallery never! On a freesite not likely (Most linklists don't allow it) Inside an AVS site sure Hope that helps :) CC |
I use <base target="main"> between my head tags to target all of them.
I wonder if <base target="_blank"> would work? I will try. But, I wonder if it's the best thing to do. Because the biggest sites don't do it. thehun, worldsex, etc. There must be a reason that they don't do it. |
