Do you prefer referrer tracking or banner (link code) tracking?

Tracking for clicks as well as signups?

Banner Tracking is when you can assign a code, like A, B, C etc to your link to see where clicks and signups come from.

Which programs do banner tracking?

Do any do both?

I prefer referral tracking because if I use a particular code on a banner rotator (which will put it on multiple pages) I would like to know which page it came from and the A, B, C, etc. codes are the same...

So signup tracking is important, and click tracking is not (on a per signup program)?

only one I know of that does code tracking like A, B, C, etc... added to the code is CE. It was neat for a few days, but beyond that, I never really used it... more info than I needed.

on a per-signup i would preffer refferal tracking.. that way i know what sales tecnique works and also what traffic is converting best for me..

I love knowing more about what my traffic is doing...and where my signups are coming from.... I absolutely love the information I can pull from the banner code tracking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I much prefer url tracking, any programs that don't use it I dont promote as much.

It's a pain in the ass to remember where the hell you set A or B or 10001 to. I don't have the time to go through galleries to find the one that converted.

I think referrer tracking will win -- most webmasters are too dumb to take advantage of the ID codes...


With ID #'s you can see which of your traffic sources are sending you signups!!! You can increase trades with sites that send you more signups! This is MUCH more powerful than referrer tracking...

referrals are not reliable.. not at all.
url tracking is much better.
