Spain's Annual Tomato Fight. What a waste!
http://www.uwti.com/gfy/tomato.jpg
Revellers swim in tomato pulp during the annual 'Tomatina' (tomato fight) in the Mediterranean village of Bunol, near Valencia, in Spain August 31, 2005. The biggest tomato fight of the world takes place when the town erupts in a fiery blaze of tomato hurling on the last Wednesday of every August. What a waste! I think it's crazy. They can use the tomatoes for a better cause, like cooking Pizza and giving it to the homeless or the starving. Video - They look crazy! |
Finally got the pic up, sorry :)

i had the same thoughts a few months ago...why waste food? humans are such spoiled creatures....the word CONSERVE is missing from our dictionaries...
|
bah, it's tradition. The homeless can lick up the remains if they are hungry.

Yes lets worry about fucking tomatos. Anyone else who does any real gardening will gladly explain to you that come this time of year you are litterally overwhelmed in very ripe tomatos. I have canned what I am able to and my neighbors hide when they see me or the fiance coming down the street. Fuck to show how bad it is the local homeless shelter has turned myself and several other people down on having the extras.
They have shitty storage unless you do can them or dry them. They are terrible to attempt to transport unless picked green or semi red. So basicly when its full on season you just deal with them. Might as well raise the towns moral and have a festival and fun then let that shit just rot and or go to waste without consuming even more resources to save/perserve them for some homeless people. Besides I would reason there are now plenty of seeds for everyone to plant even more, homeless or not. |

I wish this country would run out of tomato supply next year.
