Do you have a glass of wine or a beer every evening?

I have one glass of wine around 8pm every night. Nothing expensive, quite the opposite in fact, but a glass nevertheless.

StickyGreen 09-12-2005 07:35 PM

during the summer i drank at least a 6pack every night. sometimes 2 bottles of wine. and of course hella fifths. summer was crazy. i'm down to only drinking thurs-sun again though now...

Spunky 09-12-2005 07:35 PM

Yep, usually a few glasses of Reisling. I'm usually high stressed, and a few glasses of wine before beddie time usually relaxes me very much so..

Haha...which is why I avoid Beer. Red wine is pretty good for low cal and carbs I believe.

pornguy 09-12-2005 07:39 PM

Usually only on special occasions. Like last night was the wifes birthday, so we had some wine.

Monique Niccole 09-12-2005 07:42 PM

I drink a few glasses of red wine every night....or a bottle depending on how I'm feeling. Unfortunately, I've been too busy to drink tonight. But I'm about to remedy that in a sec. :drinkup

shermo 09-12-2005 07:44 PM

Nope. Every once in a while if I go out to dinner, or cook some filet mignon. I try to stick with juice and water for the most part.

LauraLee 09-12-2005 07:46 PM

I love red wine and don't have a glass nearly as often as i would like. I get home and start cooking etc., and forget all about it. Thanks for the reminder- i am going to make a better effort.
Besides enjoying it, as you said Cory- it's good for you. 1-2 glasses a day is good for the heart (lowers cholesterol among other health benefits).

cheers!

I drink two of those mega-sized Fiji water bottles a day (refilling of course). But man, something about 1 glass of wine at night that relaxes me.

Laura,

I have been doing it for years. I drink the Coppola or Yellowtail (both cheap). But I admit, I wonder how many others do this. And if it is actually bad for me.

It just mellows me out. I have never been one to smoke pot at night, I know that is popular, I just love wine at night; that includes whites.

Kassidy 09-12-2005 07:54 PM

Not every day, but I usually have a glass or two about 3-4 days a week. I'll have more if we have guests over on a Saturday night. I LOVE wine (red or white - I don't discriminate) :)

Cory, having 1-2 glasses a day is not bad at all, on the contrary- it is good for you (doctors have actually begun recommending it!).
You are doing your body a better service by having a glass of wine over smoking herb to wind down.
Some of my fav's are the cheaper ones. I usually do a dinner get together at my place each week. For a while there the rule was no one was allowed to bring a bottle of wine more expensive than $10. It's great, get to try out all sorts of fun stuff as well as get acquainted with some future favorites. :)

Thomas1007 09-12-2005 08:22 PM

nope usually save my drinking for a weekend or special occasion
:2 cents: :thumbsup

PixeLs 09-12-2005 08:23 PM

I try to have even just a bottle of beer before going to sleep.

HAPPYPEEKERS 09-12-2005 08:54 PM

we only drink on vacation

Odie 09-12-2005 08:58 PM

I used to drink everyday but have cut back altho these last 3 months have been insane. I am resting up tonight for Amsterdam ;)

MandyBlake 09-12-2005 09:45 PM

i don't drink wine and i hardly ever drink beer.
only every once in a while.

FreeFastHost 09-12-2005 10:51 PM

I'm rich and I'm drinking on a $9.97 bottle of wine right now. I normally drink a beer or two before bed, but if I drink wine, I drink the cheap shit.

SAM SIYC 09-12-2005 11:01 PM

started that habit recently......2-3 glasses of wine every day with dinner!

homemade house wine....father-in-law is italian :upsidedow it's free

je_rome 09-13-2005 02:51 AM

I love taking a sip of red wine every night.

woj 09-13-2005 02:52 AM

neither... :-/

reed_4 09-13-2005 04:53 AM

i only drink beer and wine on occassions.

Peaches 09-13-2005 06:03 AM

I'm trying to get into the habit of having a glass of red wine a day. It's just hard to think of drinking wine with Lean Cuisine :(

I used to drink a few glasses a night and have recently cut back to one or two. But yea, I totally agree it's a great way to wind down. And there are a bunch of solid cheap wines.

I've been into the Da Vinci Chianti and McManis Carbernet lately. But that Coppola is another favorite.

Danny_C 09-13-2005 07:17 AM

I only drink when I go out, and never beer or wine. I drink Capt. Morgan pretty excusively.

Godsmack 09-13-2005 07:22 AM

a six pack of heineken about every night. my wife hates it :-)

But it helps me work long hours and fall asleep..

Sharpie 09-13-2005 07:50 AM

I have some expensive wines that I am trying to use up, because they are actually to dry for me. But, they work very well with the evening meal. (even if it's a TV dinner...hahahaha)

If I'm going to drink wine - just to enjoy it I love the cheap stuff.... Arbor Mist:-) Comes in many flavors.

Not sure if there is something to it, but with White wine, I can usually pull off a couple glasses. With Red, one is my limit: Meaning, if I do more than the said amount, I may feel the effects the next morning; otherwise, I fall asleep nicely.

Peaches, many times I drink the wine after dinner. Especially White, it takes the place of dessert. Matching up dinner with wine can get a bit pricey (or annoying from an organizational standpoint). Either way, if I am having nachos (which I rarely do) I will just wait until I am finished for a glass of wine.

Yes, I love dessert wines - most whites are too "dry" for me though. I'm just trying to get the good red stuff in me. The best glass of Cabernet I've ever had was at Wig's a couple of years ago. Figures it was about $250 a bottle - but SO mellow. I'm not a fan of the oaky cabs.

Yellowtail had a nice shiraz-cab blend I like too - and it's cheap :)

fl_prn_str 09-13-2005 09:14 AM

now this is a great way to start the day......

Peaches,

Yellowtail is cheap but I like it.

Try Coppola Cab. It runs about $14 but it is good. Throw in "Apocalypse Now" with it. :) And if you think I am kidding, ask Gabe haha

RuthB 09-13-2005 09:33 AM

I am not a wine drinker - for some reason I just can't stand the taste of it.. so if I'm drinking anything it's likely to be a Vodka with Lime.. and that's a bit heavy for a regular night-time drink! :upsidedow

But yeah, I've read that drinking a glass or two of wine each day is good for your heart, particularly if you choose red wine if I remember rightly.

(It's one of those things like butter.. it's bad for you - no, it's good for you - no, it's bad for you - NO it's good for you! kinda thing) :winkwink:

smack 09-13-2005 09:38 AM

usually i drink at least one glass of whiskey a day. good for the heart and mind. :glugglug

ffmihai 09-13-2005 09:40 AM

oh yeah!

Downtime 09-13-2005 09:49 AM

a glass of red wine once a day is supposed to be great for your heart, along with exercise and a good diet of course

CherryLipsRosa 09-13-2005 11:58 AM

Not a wine or beer person so i rather enjoy a cocktail or a baileys

Kimmykim 09-13-2005 12:07 PM

If we're having a nice dinner, then by all means bring out the wine! Otherwise maybe a beer here and there or a cocktail if we're out somewhere. Not something I really much think about actually...
