Just gotta say thanks again to the whole staff at Webair...

I just got back from my travels and faced a major dilemma. My server was located in Port Arthur, TX directly in line of the hurricane, which was scheduled to hit early AM Sat. My term with them was up anyway and I had previously experienced numberous problems with them, so I knew this was the best time to move, not to mention necessary. I had less than a day to set up a new dedicated server, so I contacted Mike from Webair and he totally hooked me up.

I submitted payment around 3:30PM on Fri and they were working on it within the hour to try and transfer my content before my old server went down. Unfortunately, the storm's effects came quicker than expected and my old server went down at 6PM, so the transfer was impossible. Still, by Sat morning, my new server was up, 35 domains set up, the primary domains pointed and I had complete access to the machine. I'm mailing them a hard drive tomorrow, which they volunteered to install in the machine as a slave for free, so I can transfer all the content (my upload connection sucks, so it would have been impossible to upload 60GB of content from my computer).

I was truly amazed at how well it was handled and how much support I received. I couldn't be more impressed with them. So thanks Mike, Gerard, Patryk, Bob and the rest of the guys at Webair! You guys rock!

As for my previous host: Good luck and I wish you guys the best in recovering from the hurricane.

where did you host before, that servers went down due to hurricane?

They had a direct hit from what I understand, and nothing but a concrete wall to keep the ocean out. They didn't have a very good track record for uptime anyway from what I've experienced.

i will be moving my entire operation over to web air tomorrow.

they were actually recommended to me by some other folks a few days ago and i was looking over their plans this weekend.

this thread made the decision to move a lot easier!

Cool...I'm glad I could help. I actually talked with Mike about 6 months ago and was going to move then, but I had paid up my last host for a year, and they didn't want to give me a refund, so it was just easier to stay until the amount I paid was exhausted. Two days with Webair, and I'm already glad I moved (hurricane or not).

Yeah, but I don't really like to publically point fingers unless it's something major. Besides, I actually like the people there and the service was 'ok', but I had my issues here and there. They're not even really an adult host, they just don't mind it and host a few adult servers like mine.

Really? Did you send to my gmail account, because I didn't receive any... I sent you an email earlier that you need to change your domain's DNS, but I just did that for you (forgot I had access too). It'll take a bit to change over, but it should be sorted out by tomorrow...

huh...just double checked my bulk folder, and nothing in there either. That sucks. Can't imagine why I wouldn't get the gmail addressed email... Well, I should be back on ICQ tomorrow...I just have to hook my laptop back up to my LAN.
