I think the Bible & all that is complete horse shit! Every second country believes in a different god. How can they all be correct?

I really think some sort of "God" started life on earth, then left things to evolve on its own.

Who cares, you'll find out someday!

Sleepy 03-03-2002 07:44 AM

I believe in a higher being and human instinct.
The fact that we are all here is an amazing thing in itself but going to church every Sunday and paying someone to tell me I'll go to hell doesnt seem to be very valuable in a spiritual sense. Reincarnation seems to make the most sense but Im not buying that entirely, either.

Gary 03-03-2002 07:45 AM

I dont believe in God, Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny or any other fairy tale.

God gives true believers strength, but it takes a very weak person to believe in god, so they need it.

This is EXACTLY what my husband and I have been saying for years and years. I don't believe we have to believe in the same God, or have the same beliefs as our neighbors to believe in God. I don't think God is so cruel as to expect people to ALL believe the exact same way or they are going to hell. I believe in God, and Heaven and Hell.

I also believe in Guardian Angels, Reincarnation, Ghosts, and many other things....... I am either VERY confused or I am very open minded to it all, I have yet to figure out which it is......... but I do believe there is a God and there is a Satan........ ok don't get me started, I am stopping here. LMAO

Sjayne 03-03-2002 08:23 AM

um...dunno. Grew up in a very religous (Christian) household but through life experiance that has all fallen away. Not sure what I believe but like Lady, I do not belive in orginized religion.

Infact, I think it is pretty much the source of all the problems in the world. Remember those lovely things called the Crusades?

If heaven is full of right wing republicans then I'm not sure I want to go there.

History has shown that true believers will do anything their God asks of them (even if its in their mind) Hence making then strong. But it takes a weak minded person to believe in the first place.

I mentioned this in a previous god thread. Does anyone thing, when NASA is planning shuttle missions, they plan for the possibility of crash landing on heaven?

Of course not, because NASA is full of real smart people who probably go to church every sunday but dont really believe theres a god. Society makes them go to church.

I'm an atheistic agnostic. This is someone who keeps an open mind on the matter but has not so far found any irrefutable evidence that God exists.

One of my models (a genius, believe it or not) said something interesting: "I don't think anyone really believes in God no matter what they say. If they really did believe in a lake of fire and all that crap, they'd never do anything bad."

2spy 03-03-2002 11:39 AM

Oh yeah I believe in god-----or a supreme being maybe as surge suggested.
Everyone calls out gods name , rather its real good like getting off -or real bad like very frighting we all say ( OH GOD )

Helix 03-03-2002 12:58 PM

I would like to amend my previous response of, "I do believe"
I do believe there has to be a supreme being, whatever name you want to attach to it is fine with me. But, I also believe that organized religion is usually nothing more than crowd control, as has been shown in the past. and present. Killing people in the name of god. holy wars, genocide, etc..is nothing more than an excuse for being stupid. I like to think of our existance as a pet project (kinda like Sim City) God started, then he got bored and put us up on the shelf in closet. One rainy day he is going to remember, pull us off of the shelf, look at what we have done to ourselves and be really pissed off.

Your model may be a genius, but judging by that statment he doesn't know anything about Christianity. Christians believe that once you are born again that you won't go to hell. That's why they can "do bad." It's obvious that there are hundreds of millions of people that truly believe in God.

I didn't know how to put it, but that sounds cool.

When I was a little kid, I didnt believe in God back then either, but sometimes I prayed "God, if you exist, then why dont you make me believe in you".

READ THI NOW IF YOU CARE ABOUT OTHERS

This is not spam it is just a simple request

http://www.lasrado.com/stanley.html
http://www.lasrado.com/stanley.html
http://www.lasrado.com/stanley.html

Dear Webmasters of the world & friends, (PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS)

I have a favour to ask for those who can help me out. I have a friend of mine here

in Australia who has a son with a very bad case of cancer. He has to travel to New

York to have the slightest chance of survival. I am not looking for donations, I

just need to get some contacts with some real estate agents or a rental person. I

need to organise a 2 bedroom place, but preferably a 3 bedroom apartment in New

York. Stanley's parents , Kos & Effie will be travelling along with Stanley and

younger sister Nina. Nina will be the bone marrow donor but a carer will be

required to look after 8 year old Nina as the marrow transplant ward does not allow

visitors under 11 years of age.

Details of where I need it is on the map detailed on the site that we have put up :

http://www.lasrado.com/stanley.html

Please, if you have time read it and if you can help me I would very much

appreciate it. I am willing to pay the six months in advance - : anything to get

this organised. I have been in this industry going on 7 years now and have never

asked anything. I am only asking for information, not money or handouts, I am

covering all that.

The treatment is $700,000AU dollars, but I will take care of as much of that as I

can. All I need is help in getting accommodation as I do not know New York. So if

there is anyone out there that can give me some leads I would very much appreciate

it. Please go to this site http://www.lasrado.com/stanley.html read what an

incredible young guy Stanley is.

If you do wish to donate anything, toys, gifts or even 10 dollars- please do so.

I will give you the parents bank accounts if you can help.

I don't usually come on the boards but I am at a loss at what to do. I will be

traveling to New York in the coming weeks to follow his progress and treatment.

So please, as a favor , if you have information of a place close to the hospital

on the map please send it to me. This hospital is the best in the world and it is

the only one that gives this little guy a chance. So I am doing everything and

anything to try and help.

Think if it was your child or someone close to you, I am sure all of you would

help. As I said before I am not looking for money just information on getting

accommodation. He leaves Australia on Wednesday and we need to organise something

urgently. Time is very precious here, so I beg of you, please go to the site and

contact me ASAP. This has nothing to do with our industry, I am just trying to

appeal to your hearts to help me here to find accommodation.

Kind Regards

Gregory & Sonia Lasrado

PS - : All my details and personal numbers are listed on the site.

If you cant help, then please say a small prayer for Stanley and his family. Every

little bit counts.

What hospital is it Serge ? I dont see a map anywhere.
Just offhand though, have you called the Ronald McDonald Foundation to see if they offer free room and board ? Its very possible they can and will.

[Labret] 03-03-2002 02:23 PM

I believe in the basic premise behind the teliological argument for the existance of "god".

So you can count me as a "yes" vote.

You need to specify what you mean by God. Half these semi-literate retards on this board are going to automatically assume you are talking of some sort of omnipresent all knowing monotheistic overlord.

FiReC 03-03-2002 02:27 PM

I don't think some powerful being plopped a blob of primordial ooze on a hunk of rock to watch it develop for 5 billion years. 5 billion years..yea that?s a long time...a long time where small random variations lead to creatures like the dino's ...natural forces took care of the first rulers of the planet...i bet humans will end there own reign before nature does. so what started it all...something must have started the universe....ha....just like a circle...there is no beginning and there is no end?its always been here. hey everyone?s entitle to their opinion right? Just my :2 cents:

Ronald McDonald House New York City
In many metropolitan centers of the U.S., McDonald?s franchisees have funded the
establishment of residences in the area of major hospitals and medical research
facilities, for the benefit of families arriving from out-of-town for treatment
of their children. These Ronald McDonald Houses provide a warm, friendly and low
cost housing alternative to parents and siblings already overwhelmed by the stress
of illness and the financial challenge of receiving lifesaving treatment.

The Ronald McDonald House of NYC is temporary home to families from all over the world,
who have traveled to the city primarily for pediatric cancer treatment available only
in New York?s hospitals.

I actually went to a church last saturday to get my GFs brothers son baptised (they tried to drown him in holywater)....

I felt nausious. It's so damn phony! We were supposed to sing some songs to praise the lord, why? I dunno.

I think it's good to believe in something (let's say god)... but church as an institute is twisted and hypocrite...

I might believe in god (not that he created the world, but some higher being or whatnot)... but I don't condemn people who burn down churches. :)
