I am preparing a legal resource website for adult webmasters (xxxlawyer.com) which will supply a combination of news stories, articles, links, case summaries, forms and checklists. Topics of interest I plan to address range from free speech and obscenity issues to contract disputes with sponsors and hosts and other third party vendors.

I would appreciate your input about specific materials, resources, tool, information, etc.... you want to be included in such a site.

For example, would you want a daily question and answer post?
or a daily scheduled live audio question and answer session with questions presentd in an irc format?

I need an attorney - cant find one.
Would be nice to have a list of attorneys that deal with adult sites. My current attorney is a pitbull and he has to go, even Im scared of him.

Your point is well noted. I do plan on listing attorneys with adult site experience - that is for sure.

btw - I have a couple of friends who are always pitbulls. They are good in a fight, but not always when you need some transactional work.

My attorney is great but when I need something small it's still costing me $500.00 per hour. ( even though he pipes the small work off to a legal secretary who makes 30k per year )

That is a very expensive billing rate - generally only applicable to senior partners in large established firms. Rates vary widely. From $75-$100/hr for a young associate to $300-$500/hour for a senior partner. I will make sure to include some articles about billing rates, and how to negotiate billing rates.

I am shooting myself in the foot by saying this, but it is true that you can almost always negotiate attorneys fees. If the attorney is also your friend and confidant, which they should be, they should understand your need to carefully budget legal expenses.

If you are really concerned then You should have an independent attorney analyze this problem.

Here are a couple of things to think through which might help guide your decision whether to take action or not:

-Did you authorize the use of your domain name?
-If so, did the end user agree to specific terms and conditions, and did those conditions restrict the method by which your site could be displayed and/or linked?
-Was this type of display specifically prohibited?
-Will it cost more to sue than you will get in return if you win damages to compensate you for your loss?
-Do you think you could work out something with the offending party that would be to your mutual benefit instead?

I hope that helps a little. Talk to an independent attorney to think things through more before you decide how to proceed.

It would be nice if you added a place where we webmasters could go to submit galleries to also...there are very few out their for us webmasters to use
