used in the greatest tv show of all time The Simpsons. in the episode Hungry, Hungry Homer, bart and lisa respond to a homer inquiry with "meh"

Homer: Kids, how would you like to go... to Blockoland!
Bart & Lisa: Meh.
Homer: But the TV. gave the impression that--
Bart: We said "meh".
Lisa: M-E-H. Meh

**********************************

This is a universal, non-commital answer to every question ever posed. Its the answer that deosn't actually give any answer."So, you wanna do something tonight?" "Meh"

"Done anything good this week?" "Meh"

"How was it?" "Meh"

***********************************

obviously it's becoming part of the culture - over 140 definitions in the Urban Dicitionary.

i think this one sums it up

An expression of apathy.

"You feel like seeing a movie?"
"Meh."

Besides "meh", when did "dunno" become commonly acceptable as a replacement for "don't know"? I've been seeing that one everywhere, too.

Not to mention I would probably better understand what the outsourced employee was saying to me!

I may take that advice.

Office_Gnome 10-09-2005 03:58 PM

My cat taught me how to say "meh".

"HI Mr. Boo! I missed you so much today! Would you like some wet food?"

"meh"

"Hey Boo, how are you doing, did you miss me?"

"meh"

Did you get you sum poosee while I was at work?"

"meh"

"Aww, I love you too Mr. BOo!!"

Meh! Meh!

"Meh" really is a good word.

I especially love hearing "Dja what now?"

bhutocracy 10-09-2005 05:58 PM

what's wrong with "meh".. it's pretty obvious what it means... when spoken i guess. An expression of apathy is a good definition. I didn't know about the every word thing.. that seems to be overstating it. isn't it just a verbal *shrug*?

reynold 10-09-2005 06:00 PM

I think this one speaks well that lingo.
