I am jealous of Canadians...

I wish our Thanksgiving was today! Another 6 weeks, hmm. Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. Fairly easy going and so much great food.

What kind of food do you Canadians have for Thanksgiving? Turkey and dressing?

sonofsam 10-09-2005 08:26 PM

we dont eat just turkey in canada on thanksgiving, the amount of people that eat pork and the amount that eat turkey is 50/50 in canada

Spunky 10-09-2005 08:28 PM

Reminds me..I have to hunt for a bird for tomorrows dinner

Sly 10-09-2005 08:28 PM

Pork as in ham? Ham is more of a Christmas or Easter food here. I've never been real big on ham, though it is pretty good in a sandwich.

yah, but lately its been really messed up and violent over here because the people from quebec are trying to force the rest of the coutry to be more like them and serve chicken on thanksgiving as well for the french canadians... its really stupid to fight over it though IMO :2 cents:

Fucksakes 10-09-2005 08:32 PM

my girlfriend bought a butterball turkey, stuffing, potatoes, veggies, dinner rolls. and a pie.

Sly 10-09-2005 08:34 PM

I never have pie or candy during the holidays. Too busy eating the good stuff.

That is one of the more bizarre stories I've ever heard.

You're telling me people are fighting to Vancouver because the French want to eat chicken on Thanksgiving?

sonofsam 10-09-2005 08:38 PM

okay sorry, i made everything i wrote in this thread up..

but on a serious note... i love turkey and stuffing though don't celebrate thanksgiving dinner because my parents arn't canadian... i'm invited every year to my girlfriend family thanksgiving dinner, but that would be extremely awkward so i make up an excuse :1orglaugh .. maybe in the future i would be more comfortable around them and be able to eat some yummy turkey...

actually in reality i'll probably learn to cook good myself before being comfortable at a table with her family :thumbsup

Dinner was awesome, havent even thought about the first turkey sandwhich.

Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is much the same as yours down south. Our table tonight was turkey, dressing, potatoes, turnip, sweet potatoes, glazed ham, (also had a roast beef tonite) brussel sprouts, beans, homemade buns and breads, home pickled condiments like relishes and pickled fuckin everything. And everything else i missed, salads, cheese, good wine, gravies, cranberry fixins...shit tons of shit.

Had a great sit down dinner at a table for 26.

Rob 10-09-2005 08:40 PM

I am, too. They get free Health care.

Piss fortified with 5% alcohol.

Mass market beers suck. And this is a foreign owned conglomorate company.

Far better to go true Canadian:

I'm stuffed :) My mom made turkey dinner and I just ate it.

Vitasoy 10-09-2005 09:03 PM

Left over turkey is the best.. MMmm turkey sandwiches

Kassidy 10-09-2005 09:05 PM

I'm stuffed! I cooked a huge turkey and had my mom and my sister, her kids and mine. It was pretty damn good, if I do say so myself ;)

My brother in law brought a pumpkin cheesecake and OMG I'm in love.

No family dinner this year, but usually we do a turkey with real cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, salad, veggies, and dad's apple crumble over vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Of course. If they're gonna copy all our holidays, it only makes sense they'd copy the food, too. ;-}}

No.

But if you ever tell that, I'll deny it.
