Lasik Eye surgery

OK, I'm almost ready to do it, but of course I'm VERY squeamish when it comes to eyes, but I would love to have 20/20 vision without having to put in contacts every morning!

Who here has has is and how was it? :)

DutchTeenCash 10-11-2005 06:39 AM

there was a thread bout it some months ago, ppl who had it gave advice what equipment etc

EroticySteve 10-11-2005 06:40 AM

I'd do it except for all of the horror stories of people who's eyes are permanently damaged by a flawed surgery. I'd rather see well with contancts than not see at all.

SexyCityJim 10-11-2005 06:41 AM

what does lasik correct? I have been sorta thinking about it because i detest glasses, but my eyes are so bad i can't wear contacts, even custom made ones. The doc says that they would be too thick.

I agree. Was close to getting it done once and then read a few horror stories. One person's eyes were messed up and can't be fixed. She said it as if she is looking through wrinkled clear plastic wrap. I guy I know was messed up too. They totally dried out his eyes and has to wear glasses anyway. No Thank You. Glasses are not that bad. :)

Fuck the contacts. Wear glasses.

Facials look better that way.

Pornopat 10-11-2005 07:14 AM

I have had lasek done instead of lasik. The doctor fucked up first. With Lasek you still need to wear lenses for three days. She put them back inside out. That was kind of painfull. But after it was corrected everything went smooth. I have great vision now.

I had PRK surgery done about a year ago and it is one of the best things I have ever done. The only difference between PRK and Lasik is the method they use to remove the top layer of your eye. Lasik has a much better and faster recovery time. I say don't hesitate, you won't feel a thing during the procedure and you will thank yourself every morning you wake up with clear vision.

Someone told me Lasik is good for like 5-10 years then your eyes will be worse than they were and you will need the surgery again. They also said that this would be repetitive every 5-10 years ubtil they could no longer perform lasik on you anymore and you would essentially be blind. Probably total BS but then I am glad I have always had better than 20-20 vision.

Im scheduled to have the custom done the 1st week of november. I know at least 8 people who have had it and all of them say it was one of the best decisions they ever made.

Total BS.
It has not been around that long.

You probably want to get the new Waveform Lasik, otherwise known as custom lasik. Ask your optomitrist about it. Even more important I think it that they use the new Intralase laser to cut the flap. This is supposed to reduce complications by 70%.

steffie 10-11-2005 08:36 AM

For over one year I have been debating if I should get it.. I am so scared, seriously scared. Everybody tells me I should do it. The person who is going to have it done in November, please post how it was.. I should get it done really.. But I am so paranoid

Splum 10-11-2005 08:58 AM

What range of price is this surgery costing these days?

selena 10-11-2005 09:06 AM

I keep mentally toying with vision corrective surgery, then I back off it. I would rather deal with contacts or glasses. I'm too afraid of something messing up.

cykoe6 10-11-2005 10:02 AM

If you get the all laser procedure the risks are almost zero. I got it done and can not be happier. :)

GTS Mark 10-11-2005 10:09 AM

I had it done a year ago last month. Been fantastic and no side effects!

Sweetheart, weren't you asking about plastic surgery the other day...? What on earth are you up to? ... I'll take you just the way you are! :winkwink:

J-$ 10-11-2005 10:23 AM

just do it already you fuckin pantsiez! im thinking somewhere near 10 000 people a day have it done, if not more! just dont be cheap when you are choosing which doctor since this is one of the most long-term investments youll ever make. and dont act all scared and shit as it will just put pressure on the surgeon. shut yo trap!

gdog 10-11-2005 10:24 AM

DJ Airek and I both got it done in 2000 and my eyes are still 50 times better than they were and his too. It is so painless and so quick and the results are f'ing amazing.

High Quality 10-11-2005 12:31 PM

Its risky if you ask me!

Rui 10-11-2005 12:32 PM

Im looking into getting it done in a few months or so...

L0stMind 10-11-2005 01:34 PM

I have an appt tomolo for PRK

kinda scared somehow. but I know a bunch of people who had it done and say its the best thing they've done.

It costs $1900 CAD here in vancouver at the best place.

Mako 10-11-2005 01:35 PM

Search is your friend. Plenty of threads on this topic, including my own, and it's easily searched under "Lasik".

casiragi 10-11-2005 01:39 PM

doesn't it permanetly dry out your eyes? or just for a couple of days. My eyes are dry with contacts on.I'd rather wear contacts with dry eyes than have permanetly dry eyes.

justsexxx 10-11-2005 01:41 PM

I'm to scared todo it. I will use contacts in stead. I have "daily" ones. I just wear them one day, and throw them away...

PersianKitty 10-11-2005 02:59 PM

I had customvue lasik done in April of 2004. One of the best things I've ever done. I did however choose to go to a more expensive doc with his own surgery center instead of one of the cheaper outfits that are advertised all over. I did quite a bit of research prior to having it done, on both the surgery and the docs.

WWC-DonMike 10-11-2005 03:24 PM

I'm a big geek. I'm too nervous to let people mess with my eyes.

I am still having a 20/20 vision, I think won't be needing that one. Besides, I am scared of surgery, especially if it involves my eyes.

WiredGuy 10-11-2005 06:52 PM

Between the wisdom teeth extraction, Lasik surgery and plastic surgery, I'm not going to recognize you!
