Whats with Star Tattoo's?

Star tattoo's, what's the story??.. seems to be the big trend for tatty's almost to the level of tribal armbands in the 90's and the ever popular "Tramp Stamps".

The 3d versions with color as well I see a ton of:

What's the story or symbolism behind them? I only have and get Native symbols since I'm a half breed, they have personal and traditional meanings but thats just me and what I get.

Give me the skinny on them stars.. some look killer.. some look jail house.

I am not sure... but I do know one thing. There is this one guy here on GFY that seems really bothered by them. [WHISPERS] I think he needs therapy. [/WHISPERS]

Women are generally obsessed with astral bodies, and tattoos are widely popular. So many women I talk to collect Stars (star cups, plates, clothing, posters, etc...), even mi gf is a star freak....

its a girl thing.

One of the funniest things I've heard in a long time is Carlos Mencia's rant about white folks with tribal tattoos.

A white guy in the audience stands up admits he has a tribal tattoo.

Mencia says, "And what tribe are you in, Chad?

It's a Nordic Star ... I was always told it represents your path or journey in life. at least that's what mine represents to me .. it was used by Vikings and sailer to navigate and you'll find a star very similar to it on map and compasses today ... here's the one i have on my Wrist ... star is on the right and i have a pair of Dice on my left .. one is my given path the other is the chances you take to change that ..

My brother in law has the two Nordic (aka Nautical) Stars on his forearms. Because ancient sailors use the stars to navigate the oceans they represent guidance and protection. He has been around sailing all his life and he and his father also design and build sailboats.....so yeah.

Personally, I get star tattoo's because I love stars. I get heart tattoo's because I love hearts. I get flower tattoo's because I love flowers, I get butterfly tattoo's because I love butterflies...see where I'm going with this? LOL Some people have no fucking imagination at all and are just sheep. And some like what they like....I like things to look feminine on me, I really don't give a fuck about anyone else LOL :P

Some asians once told me that stars seem to be an "american thing".
Maybe they were referring to brand logos.. look at the background image of this forum for example..
