"ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"

When I lookin in the /var/lib/mysql directory there is no mysql.sock file.

shaze, hit me up on ICQ 177 468 38 8

I've seen this before and it was a user/pass issue. I killed all the mysql processes that were running and restarted the server, tried to connect again, and it worked fine.

i don't think it's a user/pass issue....the problem is even before that point.

I worded my reply wrong... I was getting this error and thought it was a user/pass issue, like my user/pass was calling a file located somewhere else. So I did the above (killed all the processes and rebooted) and it finally worked right, the first time.

Probably what it is and would also explain why the restart would fix it :)

90% of the time it's the obvious overlooked thing.
