Future Of Computing: Quantum Computers via Nanofabrication

I ain't even gonna try to imagine where computers are going to be in 5 to 10 years. I'm lucky I get to see the entertainment applications via the toy and gaming industries and they're changing fast.

Coolest thing was 3D interactive websites and game characters. I expect to see very lifelike interactive dolls like a walking talking breathing Barbie in 10 years.

If we make it as a civilization in the next 10 years, it'll be worth it.

Well, don't be surprised cause the entertainment/toys/games industries are light years ahead of what they were 10 years ago so you can try to imagine what'll happen in 10 years. People probably won't even go to the movies anymore

The Japanese are going over the deep end in robotics and won't stop til they have a walking talking sex doll.

Theme parks, home entertainment, no telling what'll happen.

They've managed to come up with a working bipedal exoskeleton / robotech type contraption. Check it out.

They've been hooking up j-nurses with power augmentation devices, letting 130lbs japanese girls pick up guys thier weight or more effortlessly.

Now that's some practical shit that'll make mad bank for sure. Why isn't cool stuff like that being worked on over here? :disgust

Awesome links! I've seen the battlemech thing before but the augmentation is rockin'!

The reason we don't have things like that in the U.S. is because we fuck over our inventors here. It's a fierce, ruthless business for sure. There are numerous new and alternate energy technologies, medical, farming, fishing, textiles etc. but they'll never see the light of day because the inventors either get bought out via intimidation or they get murdered or they go broke and their inventions get snagged up by the guys who drove them into bankruptcy in the first place.

It's really, really, vicious. You see those commercials about companies that want to help you with your invention, but what they don't tell you is the final hurdle, funding, ends up with the investors getting 99.9% of your shit.

That's why it takes forever for a new invention to hit the market if it can hit the market at all. The Japanese are different in this that they know a good thing when they see it.
