Does anyone have a Tempur-Pedic bed?

I have looked at them and want one I think. We have a Queen now but I'm a bed hog so it's time for a King but I'm not sure if I want a Tempur-Pedic or not.

I'd suggest sticking with a good traditional innerspring mattress. Some offer memory foam pillow tops which is your best compromise for a mattress that will give you both comfort and longevity.

Save the money... buy a sheet of memory foam same thickness, and try it out for a while, same material as the tempurpedics. If you dont like switch back the old one, or get a new conventional matress.

My dad thought about it so he went to a store to try it out but he says they suck. He's getting a Hastens instead.

What does a block of memory foam cost that is the same size as a bed?

Project-Shadow 10-28-2005 07:27 AM

Just get a waterbed =/

I don't have one, but I've shopped around and you can get a way higher quality memory foam bed for much less. With them you're paying for the name and marketing. Only the top few inches of those beds are actually memory foam, and the company won't tell anyone, even their own salesman what kind of foam is underneath. If you go to a custom foam manufacturer you can choose any kind of foams you want, get a way better quality bed, and save at least 30%.

I have it and love it, but it does tend to get a little warm.

They are a novelty, much like waterbeds were back in the day.

As waterbeds came and went, the Innerspring mattresss stayed the best option.

From what I have heard, there were some studies done about the effects of dust that those things produce and it was cancer causing in some cases. Ofcourse, that's only what I heard, I haven't read any studies or anything but you might want to do some searches on it. Then again though, everything causes cancer so...

My mom has one and she says its great for her back (she has back problems) but she also said it took a while to get used to, so just trying it out in the store might give you the wrong impression.

they do a LOT of advertising for those here, got a nice boxspring myself no clue what these cost

DutchTeenCash 10-29-2005 08:04 AM

I got a tempur matress, pillows and like tempur bed shoes I love tempur! :thumbsup

After you have sleept in a tempur bed for like a week or so you will never want any other matress then a tempur matress. :)

i have a friend that manufactures mattresses, he made me a nice pillow top innerspring and a memory foam mattress, i like the memory foam best. i had him use a denser foam than the tempur pedic you see on tv, thus you dont sink into it as far but the even support is nice.

i think the one advertised on tv offers a 30-60-90 day unconditional trial
